REVIEW: in fiamme Golf Apparel

Fine Italian Apparel For Golf
Italians are known for making some of the best sports cars, eating some of the tastiest foods and wearing some of the finest clothes in the world.  I can’t say Italians are known for their golf apparel, but in fiamme makes one of the finest Italian golf shirts you can buy.  They hand cut and sew their shirts in a small village outside of Milan, Italy.  They believe there are two main ingredients to making a great golf shirt: using the highest of quality materials and meticulously designing every detail.  in fiamme Golf Apparel uses the finest Egyptian cotton you can buy in their golf shirt and makes each shirt one at a time by hand.  in fiamme is Italian for “on fire” and has to do with their passion for creating the highest quality golf shirt you can find anywhere.
The cotton material is going to be what makes this shirt stand out in a crowd of golf shirts.  For many golfers “cotton” shirts have gone by the wayside because of so many low quality ones being produced over the years which have been replaced by some tech-fabric.  Color-fast, comfort, and weight were all contributing factors to the shift.  in fiamme, however, has found a way to make a cotton golf shirt with all those properties and more.  In fiamme uses what they call “Filoscozia cotton” which is a super-lightweight, double-mercerized cotton.   It allows for bight colors that will stick around for many washes as well as a super soft comfort not found in other fabrics.

The craftsmanship is evident as you take a look at all the details of the shirt.  The stitching, the buttons, the cut, it all shows that time was taken in the assembly of this shirt, not just a mass produced, low quality control factory making 1,000s a day.  As with all shirts sizing is always an adventure.  in fiamme golf apparel uses a “gentleman’s” cut which is not your European slim cut, nor your north American super sized cut, but a generous cut without getting “big.”  I normally wear a M in many brands and with in fiamme I was able to wear the same size and the fit was very good, comfort without bulk.  The sleeves are just slightly longer than my favorite shirts, but the shoulder seam does sit right on the corner where it should.  The overall length is good for tucking in, but I felt wearing it untucked was just a touch too long for me, but a taller gentleman could probably pull it off.  This fine Italian shirt does require a little more care than other shirts, just read the instructions, it isn’t too tough even for a guy who rarely does his own laundry.

in fiamme golf apparel can be found at your high-end pro shop or you can order it right off their website.  It might not have great flair to stand out in the crowd, but then again a golf shirt doesn’t always have to be the center of attention when golfing.  At the same time, the odds of you having the same shirt in your foursome while wearing in fiamme is pretty much next to none too.  As with all fine Italian products they are not cheap.  I can’t say I’d buy a whole closet full of in fiamme golf apparel, but having a couple of the finest cotton shirts you can buy for golf is a nice treat.
