Mercedes AMG Golf
You do not think of golf when you hear Mercedes AMG, but that is about to change. 2012 brings us Mercedes AMG golf clubs and a full line of apparel and accessories. While this might seem like a strange combination, the Formula 1 heritage behind the design of these clubs should have them competing with the well established brands. While obviously these will appeal to Mercedes owners, they are designed to offer the highest quality clubs with amazing research and development as well as a price point that is in line with other golf companies.
I had the opportunity to talk with the designer of the entire line of clubs Cameron Day. He spoke about the innovations used in the Mercedes AMG woods. The very first innovation is the speed channel on the bottom designed to speed up the air as it rushes across the bottom of the club as it swings. The shaft is designed with a dual paint scheme that has half of the paint smooth and half with texture creating better turbulence. It comes in both a black or silver version. The irons are kind of a standard cast cavity back or a forged players iron that look amazing. Another new innovation would be the two golf balls, the Mercedes AMG black and silver. The Black will be an ultra premium ball that will be for the very accomplished player. The Silver will be a premium ball that is actually silver in color. All of the products have a racing heritage number. The red number in a white circle. They also have a nice line of putters, standard and belly. They are partially aluminum and have a large tungsten weight attached to the back creating a great feeling putter along with a great functional design.
These clubs are not just about the name, there is real technology behind these clubs. If you driver a Mercedes these will be a perfect compliment to your car. If you don't, you still might want to give these a test drive.
Not only is there a whole line of clubs, they made just about every imaginable accessory for the Mercedes AMG line. There are bags, push carts, belts, shirts, gloves, umbrellas, etc.
