Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 Fairway Woods
Following the most successful fairway wood launch in the history of golf, which catapulted the company to a record 52 percent metalwood market share*, TaylorMade Golf Company is adding another equipment breakthrough to its industry leading-portfolio. Introducing the new RocketBallz Stage 2, a fairway wood that promotes up to 10 yards of distance for better players in addition to the 17 yards gained with the original RocketBallz fairways. **
TaylorMade, which pioneered the hybrid category, also unveiled
its new line-up of RBZ Stage 2 Rescues, which are engineered to be faster and longer than first-generation RocketBallz Rescues.
“Our team continues to push the innovation envelope in the fairway wood and hybrid categories,” said Todd Beach, vice president of metalwood R&D. “RocketBallz represented a distance breakthrough, but we knew we could make improvements. The improved Speed Pocket, re-configured CG location and shallower profile make this year’s line-up of fairways and Rescues the best-performing metalwoods we have ever developed.”
Key to the performance gains of RBZ Stage 2 fairways and Rescues is high-strength TaylorMade RocketSteel supplied by Carpenter™, which creates a thinner and faster-flexing face. Both fairways and Rescues also incorporate an improved version of the company’s now-famous Speed Pocket design, which flexes to promote faster ball speed for more distance.
What sets this year’s RBZ Stage 2 lineup apart from previous lines is its playability and ease of launch. Engineered to do so thanks to the clubhead’s lower profile, shallow face and low CG. At address, players can easily see how the trailing edge sits low and close to the turf, making these fairways look exceptionally easy to launch.
Both RBZ Stage 2 fairways and Rescues are available in a tunable “Tour” version. Featuring the company’s Loft Sleeve technology, golfers can easily adjust the loft +/- 1.5° to find their optimal launch conditions – a feature not offered in last year’s RocketBallz products. The non-glare white crown features a new and compelling graphic that is both eye-catching and useful as an alignment aid to promote accurate aiming of the clubface at address.
RocketBallz Stage 2 fairways ($249) are equipped with an ultra-light RocketFuel 60 graphite (43.5”) shaft and are available in the following heads/lofts: 3 (15.0), 3HL (17.0), 5 (19.0), 5HL (21.0) and 7 (22.0). The TP fairway offering ($279) is equipped with a Matrix RocketFuel 70 graphite (43.5”) shaft and the following heads/loft options: Tour Spoon (13.0), T3 (14.5), T3HL (16.5) and T5 (18.5).
The stock shaft offering in the new RBZ Stage 2 Rescue clubs ($199) is a RocketFuel 65 (41”). Head options range from 3-6 in right-handed and 3 and 4 for left-handed players. A Rescue Tour model will be available for $229.

Tech Talk
Improved Speed Pocket
TaylorMade only scratched the surface with the first version of its now-famous Speed Pocket, allowing significantly improvement compared to the Pocket in the original RocketBallz fairways and Rescues. The new, improved Speed Pocket promotes faster ball speed for more distance.
TaylorMade RocketSteel for a Faster Face / Higher COR
TaylorMade RocketSteel --the new, ultra-high-strength lightweight steel used in RocketBallz Stage 2 fairways and Rescues -- allows for a faster and more flexible face that delivers higher COR to promote faster ball speed.
Thick-thin Crown Technology
Varying the thickness of the crown allowed TaylorMade engineers to save critical weight that’s strategically repositioned to move the CG lower and farther forward. Lowering the CG promotes a higher launch angle, while
moving it forward promotes faster ball speed.

** Better player 17- yard claim based on RBZ vs. Burner 11 Fairway and 10-yard claim based on RBZ Stg2 vs. RBZ Fairway, robot testing at 150 mph ball speed, total distance.
