Accuracy is Most Important
The most important factor in a hybrid for me is accuracy.  While that might be true of every club, sometimes i’ll give up just a little tiny bit of forgiveness for length.  I really want the longest driver I can play, and a 3 wood that can go pretty far too.  I want my irons to go high and straight.  My hybrid I just want to hit it the same distance, from any lie into a tight circle.  The Tour Edge Exotics EX9 is one of the most accurate hybrids I have ever hit.
The Tour Edge Exotic EX9 is my second club from them that has the slip stream sole.  I’m a believer in this technology.  The 3-wood still finds its way into my bag regularly because of how well it interacts with the turf.  I love how the sole rides along and cuts through any lie.  Besides a very deep lie, I can hit this hybrid from just about anywhere with matching results.  I found little difference from the fairway, off the tee or from the light rough.  I attribute that to the sole.

The shape of the Tour Edge Exotics EX9 hybrid is on the slightly larger side, like a fairway wood.  They do offer a tour version of the head which is more compact if you prefer that look.  What is nice about this shape is that it isn’t as “high-toe” as many hybrids have become.  This one tapers slightly at the toe to give it a less upright look.  The deeper body allow the weight to be pushed back and down for higher launch.  Add the “power grid” slot technology for a more consistent transfer of energy to the ball which gives you an easy to hit, high launching, super accurate hybrid.

I played the #3 hybrid at 19* loft. The off the rack set up on the EX9 hybrid is top-shelf.  The UST Mamiya Recoil 670 F4  shaft is excellent.  It has a great feel and balance.  It swings very easy with little thought, just aim and swing.  It is topped with a nice stock Lamkin Exotics UTx grip and the headcover is a cool looking retro leather-like cover.

My on the course shots with the Tour Edge Exotics EX9 hybrid have been nothing short of awesome.  My first few rounds with it were in FL this winter.  I hit shots that really impressed me.  They went high, straight at the pin and stuck tight each time.  I used it on a couple long par 3s for birdies and a long par 4 which I stuck it to a couple feet for a tap in.  On my return to MN, I’ve continued to have great success with it.  I don’t try to use it as a “bomb-it” kind of hybrid, but for pin hunting.  It is looking to have won the spot in my gamer bag for 2016 so far.  It is just so accurate.  It isn’t the longest hybrid I’ve ever hit, but I’m not really looking for that.  I need to fill the gap between my 4-iron and my 3-wood.  This is the perfect 210 yards club.  I got it on my Flightscope X2 Launch Monitor to see what the actual numbers said and it confirmed everything I saw on the course.  Very accurate, good high launch and right at the length I want.

Everyone has something different that they are looking for out of their hybrid.  I am looking for accuracy.  It can really be a difference maker in a round if you are all over the pin or not.  While I might be giving up a couple yards with this club, I know exactly what it is going to do from just about any lie, which allows me to play the exact shot I need, because accuracy is most important!
