Adak Groove Sharpener Review
There Are Clean Grooves and Then There Are Adak Sharp Grooves
There is ample evidence that clean grooves help you hit better wedge and iron shots. Spin and consistency are greatly impact by dirt in the grooves. If the grooves are not allowed to engage the cover of your ProV1 golf ball, there are all sorts of bad potential results; less spin, sliding up the face, and distance inconsistency from shot to shot. But even with clean grooves, that old Vokey wedge just doesn’t have grooves with sharp edges anymore. It maybe your favorite club, but you are loosing a lot of performance.
Adak Groove Sharpener can both clean your grooves, sharpen your grooves as well as smooth the face. This 2 in 1 or even 3 in 1 groove tool is diamond infused so that it can tackle the hardest of grim and the most worn of grooves to refresh, renew, clean, restore and get that old favorite wedge spinning the ball like brand new ones.
This is my definitive Adak Groove Sharpener Review.

What is a Groove Sharpener?
We’ve all seen some version of a brush and towel attached to most golf bags. They scrub the dirt out of the grooves while playing 18 holes. After or before each shot it is wise to remove any dirt from the grooves to hit the best shots possible. While these tools are vital and important while playing, they only help so much. Over time grooves wear down from the impact with the golf ball as well as damage from foreigner objects likes sand, stones or even other club bag chatter. The Adak Groove Sharpener is a different kind of groove cleaner/sharpener. It is diamond infused to not only clean the grooves, but resharpen them to increase their performance and consistency.

How Does It Work?
The Adak Groove Sharpener is a diamond infused handheld “file” or “sandpaper” like tool that restores the edge of the metal grooves. It is harder than the metal of the club so it actually removes a tiny amount when you slide it down each groove. It is also about the width of the face so you can rub it across the face to smooth that out too. It raises and lowers like a deodorant stick so you have a compact tool along with a long lasting one. It only takes a few “scrapes” across the grooves and face to renew your wedge and it is the safest method. However, remember that your new “raw” grooves might rust.

Do Sharp Grooves Help?
If clean grooves work, wouldn’t sharp grooves work even better? Yes, the Adak Groove Sharpener works exactly as advertised and far better than I expected. I rotate my wedges regularly as I test new ones, but I still have some good ole favorites around that have lost some of their “zip”. The Adak Groove Sharpener restored these old wedges grooves and faces to something almost like new. I also play a “rock” wedge in AZ and it has been beaten up and the transformation is nothing short of amazing. You might not need to buy a new wedge, just get this tool.
I tested my worn down, beat up rock wedge on the launch monitor before Adak Groove Sharpener and after. (as you can see above on my Full Swing KIT Launch Monitor) The numbers tell the story of how much this tool improves spin and consistency. Here are the average numbers: 8190 rpms before vs. 10,511 rpms after Adak Groove Sharpener.

Summary
If you have a trusty wedge that you don’t want to change out, but you also have noticed a performance loss because of old grooves, the Adak Groove Sharpener is the tool to restore, clean and sharpen those grooves. It might not seem like much, but the numbers don’t lie about the benefits of this simple little tool. You can still keep your grooves clean after every shot with a brush and towel, but maybe before each round or at least a couple times a season use the Adak to get them really clean and sharp. The performance is worth it, especially if you have an old wedge you love.
