1. Scotty Cameron Pivot Tool (Classic Designer Divot Tool)
Scotty Cameron is likely the most respected luxury putter craftsman walking the Earth. He and his brand are known for paying the utmost attention to detail with all of their products, so it’s no real surprise that the putter creator designed an excellent divot tool to go along with it.
The Scotty Cameron “Pivot Tool” is a unique two-pronged fork that provides more leverage when repairing divots and was specially designed to be environmentally sound for the green’s health.
Each tool is milled from tumbled aluminum, and many Scotty Cameron head covers come with a pivot tool attached to their sides in a special compartment.
We love the Scotty Cameron Pivot Tool for its simplistic and minimalistic design features, how easy it is to use, and the fact that Scotty Cameron still releases “Special Edition” pivot tools regularly to “Club Cameron Members.”

2. Pitchfix Switchblade Divot Tool (Best Retractable Design Tool)
The Pitchfix Switchblade divot tool is one of our favorite designs because it completely removes the chance of you poking or stabbing your hand when you reach in your pocket to grab it (something we do on a way too regular basis).
The Pitchfix operates with the push of a button, just like a switchblade knife! When you need to repair your pitch mark on the green, grab it out of your pocket or golf bag and press the button to flip out its teeth!
The soft-touch handle includes a magnetic ball marker and an integrated pencil sharpener, so you never have to worry about being unable to keep score with a dull golf course pencil.
If that weren’t enough, the Pitchfix divot tool is available in 17 different colors, so you can be sure to match your golf bag or personal style, or be sure you never match someone else!

Known as “The Bow Tie” ,this single-prong tool is precision milled from a piece of 303 Stainless Steel and hand polished for a subtle reflection.
Sitting at a comfortable 3.25 inches, this divot tool feels as good as it looks thanks to its moderately heavy weight and its “ergonomically designed switch grip” that’s textured to let you grab it easier.
Colors: Stainless Steel
4. Claret Dreamer Divot Tool (Best Wooden Divot Tool)
Tim Alpaugh, author of “Claret Dreams,”(an incredible story that takes you along the journey of following a set of wooden golf clubs from their creator, Old Tom Morris, through the 1960s in a quest for the Claret Jug,) creates one of the more unique handcrafted divot tools on our list.
His love for golf history has led Alpaugh to create many interesting single-point wooden divot tools (along with doing hickory club restoration and making “trestle sticks” for Sunday golf bags). His unique and beautiful products have led him to develop quite a cult following on social media.
It’s fun to know that your divot tool was made by hand, and knowing exactly who made it makes it that much more special.

Buying Guide: The Best Divot Tools Explained
There are a few unique genres of most divot tools. Some are designed for a single purpose, and others are exploding with extra features to make your life easier on the golf course.
Fork - Two Prong Golf Divot Tools
These divot repair tools have two prongs sticking out of their usable ends, making it a little easier to repair your divots with fewer stabs and attempts than a single-prong tool. Many Fork-style options on our list double as multi-tool accessories with added features like bottle openers and groove cleaners!
Push & Pull Golf Divot Tools
“Push & Pull” divot repair tools have specially designed prongs that use their barbs to repair divots naturally as you push and pull them from the ground where you’ve made a pitch mark. This tool style is likely the easiest to use.
Custom/Designer Single Prong Golf Divot Repair Tools
Our last type of repair tool doubles as a functional piece of art and a way to fix your ball marks on the green. These tools can be made of wood, various metals, or many other materials, but their ultimate goal is to be functional and beautiful.
Best Divot Repair Tool Frequently Asked Questions:
Here are our answers to some of your most commonly asked questions about one of the best golf accessories.
What is the best way to repair divots?
Here’s how we repair ball marks on the putting surface step by step:
Step 1: We find our ball mark and tamp it down with the bottom of our putter before we use our divot tool. This step flattens the surface and reduces our likelihood of damaging the turf when we begin step 2.
Step 2: We pull out our repair tool and insert it in the ground about a half inch away from the pitch mark at a 45° angle. Once inserted, we lightly push the handle of our tool toward the center of the divot.
Step 3: We repeat this process following the outer perimeter of the ball mark until its center is adequately fluffed back up.
Step 4: As a final step, we lightly tap down the area with the bottom of our putter head until it’s smooth and flush with the rest of the green. This final step lessens the chance of affecting another golfer’s line and helps the root system regenerate faster for better course conditions!
Where do you keep/carry a divot tool?
We carry our divot tool in the pocket of our pants or shorts, but many golfers keep their divot tool on their waist or in an outer pocket of their golf bag for easy access.
Is fixing divots in golf mandatory?
While it isn’t necessarily a written rule at every golf course that you MUST fix your divots, it is generally seen as a common courtesy that you’ll do this.
A “Golden Rule” we try to follow is, “Leave the golf course in better shape than you found it.” A great way to do this is by trying to fix a minimum of two divots per green you see.
