After gaming the Cobra KING TEC 2025 Irons for 7 rounds this winter, I found myself enjoying repeatedly great shots.  The combination of compact shape, forged feel, plenty of distance and ample forgiveness; I realized just how many good shots I hit with this irons. My testing included the on-course rounds, range time and simulator testing at the iGR office by Carl’s Place DIY Simulators.

This is the definitive Cobra KING TEC 2025 Irons Review for 2024.

Cobra KING TEC 2025 Irons

Player’s Design

The Player’s Irons are become the most popular and most vaguely described category of irons.  I think anything that has a close resemblance to a blade look, but offers distance and forgiveness is a player’s iron. Cobra has been making irons in this category for a long time and the new KING TEC Irons are the perfect example of getting it just right.  They look like a big blade iron, but their hollow design means they have distance and forgiveness.  I think these are one of the best since they don’t have as much offset compared to other players irons.

Players Distance

The “players distance” category continues to grow with more and more clubs aimed at this segment.  The Corbra KING TEC 2025 Irons have plenty of distance with their hollow PWRSHELL design, tungsten weight, and foam fill.  The forged head with strong lofts means these clubs are long.  I found them approximately 1 club longer than what I consider my stock yardages.  What I found interesting about these irons was the fact that they didn’t reduce spin like so many players distance irons do.  This meant I held greens much tighter too.

Complete Set

The goal with irons is to feel as comfortable holding a 4-iron in your hand as a PW.  I know that it may never be 100% the same feeling, but these might be as close as I’ve come in terms of confidence of distance, direction and contact from the top to bottom of the set.  I expected to hit the green and hit close to the pin with every iron on every shot.  I was impressed with the accuracy and ease with which I could hit the long irons.  They all look, feel and perform the same. The distance gapping, the spin rates, and the trajectory was paired perfectly from one club to the next.

On-Course Performance

The Flightscope Mevo+ numbers tell a story of performance as does the real world rounds.  We continue to believe in the importance of on-course testing to see what happens when you have a less than perfect lie, with less than perfect conditions and you have to hit real golf shots.  The players power really shines with the Cobra KING TEC 2025 Irons design.  These clubs just blast the ball out of the rough with no distance loss.  The high spin rate hold greens from long distances and really allows for impressive pin-seaking.  The turf interaction is so pure with nice camber and bevel.  The smooth divots are the right blend of down into the ball without digging.  The forgiveness on miss hits is also the real benefit of these irons which most likely means your still hitting the green, even if the swing wasn’t perfect.

Summary

The Cobra KING TEC 2025 Irons come in a perfect configuration right off the rack with KBS $-Taper Lite shafts.  They are ready to go the distance, stop quickly and offers just the right amount of forgiveness ot make these player’s irons all around performers.  I’m impressed how Cobra squeezed a little more performance and forgiveness out of these player’s irons.  They look like player’s clubs, they’ve got plenty of distance with some game improvement like forgiveness.
