Dprofy Golf GPS Review

It is important to know you distances while golfing. The debate about how to acquire those distances is really about a personal preference: laser or GPS. If you are going to pick the laser route, it is going to range between $100-$600. If you pick the GPS route it is $0-$1200. While those seem like big ranges in price, the saying; ” you get what you pay for” usually rings true. Things like ease of use, accuracy, additional features, durability, etc all come into play when investing in distance.

The Dprofy Golf GPS is a 2 button clip that connects to a cellphone app so that it can tell you distances. It tells you the current distance to the middle of the green as well as your previous shot distance with 1 button. The other button tells you the distance to green side bunkers. For $40 you get the free app and 2 x Dprofy Golf GPS 2 button clips. The question is, “Is it worth it?” .

This is my definitive Dprofy Golf GPS Review.

2 Button “Voice” GPS

The Dprofy Golf GPS 2 button remote connects to the phone app via Bluetooth. It is very quick and easy to set up: download the app from the qr code, remove the battery tab on the remote, sync, and start playing golf. The two button system is easy to use. The big top button makes your phone talk the yardages to you. The smaller side button tells you the green side bunker yardages. You can click it and get different yardages wherever your phone is. It also tells you the previous shot distance. So if you bomb a drive you can let your phone brag about the distance.

Clip Attachment

The Dprofy Golf GPS has a clip that can be worn on your hat or belt. It isn’t tight enough to clip to a pocket or your shirt. It is super lightweight so I didn’t even notice it on my hat. If you wear it on your belt I liked that it was secure and didn’t pop off or the button doesn’t accidentally get pushed when you sit down or bump it. The buttons require a push which is nice so that your phone doesn’t start talking when someone else is swinging. You could just put it in your pocket, since it is smaller and lighter than many ball markers, however be careful it can fall out of your pocket.

2x Dprofy Golf GPS??

When you buy a Dprofy Golf GPS they send 2 units. A green one and a purple one. I was super confused at first about why I needed 2. My first time out with it the purple one fell out of my pocket on the first hole. I was able to finish the round using the green button instead. (thankfully the course found it the next day) I now clip it to my hat. The reason they send two is so that you can share. I can give the other button to my golfing partner and we can both use the voice GPS with each button. Most likely it will just be the backup button if I lose one again.

Phone App

The Dprofy Golf GPS is run by the free phone app. It is relatively quick and easy to use. Once you set up your account, you select the course you plan on playing. Usually using the nearest course to me feature. You can input as much or as little as you want. It has a follow mode that mostly works or a manual mode if you plan on inputting a lot of data along the way. The maps are bright and easy to navigate. The score card helps you track, shots, putts, club and accuracy. I don’t know how many courses are in their database. I found most of the courses I played except one.

Summary

So is it worth it? The Dprofy Golf GPS offers voice distances for $40. Your investment is a dozen golf balls, however with the number of free phone apps that use the same GPS and offer a smoother app experience it might not be worth it to annoy your golf buddies with your talking phone. But since it is such a small investment, it is better than nothing if you don’t want to look at your phone while golfing. The yardages weren’t always correct, but usually close. If you split the cost and give a button to a friend, then it is only $20. I think for the cost, it is solid enough for on-course distances, scoring and information.
