ECCO golf shoes have often a classic, even iconic look.

They have always pushed the boundaries of materials, outsoles, and Biom comfort, but have kept it mostly hidden within a simple and stylish exterior.

The ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes have an edgy, bold and rugged design that show off golf’s heritage to the Scottish Highlands while doing it in the most ECCO way.

These shoes are full of new features, are super comfortable, function amazingly well on the golfers and show some creativity in design.

I walked in these shoes for 5 rounds of golf and used them throughout the week to the office, store or around town.

This is my official ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes Review.

ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes

Edgy Yet Subtle

ECCO did something really cool with the Biom H5 design.

From a distance they look like your basic, white, black or grey shoe depending on your color selection.

Up close you see all this cool and edgy details like the mountain looking sides of the outsole.

The rugged pattern in the uppers that mirror the outsole.

The new outsole tread pattern is rugged.

The blend of ECCO performance leather and ECCO-TEX waterproof material gives it contrasting look, but in a very subtle way.

The upper mesh sock material blend in well as they are done in a solid upper color and a bright sole color.

Biom Cushion

ECCO has been using Biom cushion and comfort for some time now.

Each generation they work in new innovation and things they learn about the foot to create a natural motion and connection between the shoe’s function and the foot inside of it.

The ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes are meant for tackling the rugged terrain of a golf course in comfort with cushion.

ECCO has the perfect balance in these shoes of cushion in each step with a firm rebound while striding to make them comfortable, supportive and flexible for all 18 holes.

New Spikeless Outsole

The ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes have a new spikeless outsole that they don’t name or label, but it has aggressive angular shapes on the sole placed in varying directions and sizes to create a non-slip outsole.

It flexes nicely while walking, but locks down while swinging.

ECCO has been a leader in this category as long as I’ve been doing reviews and this new sole is no different.

I continue to like the rubber compound ECCO uses because it is so durable, yet soft enough for walking on hard surfaces.

The way this spikeless outsole wrap up the side of the shoe is really cool too.

Waterproof

The ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes have 2 main materials in the uppers: ECCO Performance Leather and ECCO-TEX waterproof membrane.

I was able navigate dewy mornings, freshly watered fairways and some unexpected water while keeping my feet perfectly dry.

The tall and rugged outsole also helps reduce water on your feet as you stand tall above it in these shoes.

Natural Performance

You can walk 18 hole right out of the box with the ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes.

They have a snug fit, but comfortable fit with the stretchy sock upper.

The natural walk of the Biom is a great fit to your foot.

The outsole flexes with traction in just the right places for a natural feel swinging or walking.

If you are coming from a previous ECCO shoe, you will feel right at home in these shoes.

If you are coming from a different brand you may notice how “tall” these shoes feel, but I really like the position my feet are in as I approach each shot.

Summary

ECCO continues to be an innovator in the golf shoe world.

The ECCO Biom H5 Golf Shoes are edge, bold, rugged, yet waterproof, comfortable and functional.

I love how they did this all in a subtle way so that up close they look amazingly different, but from a distance they look classy and stylish.

ECCO continues to lead the way with new designs, great styles and comfortable function on and off the course.

The new outsole traction is aggressive for great on-course function, but smooth enough for good off-course use.

I’m impressed by ECCO’s new innovations and Biom comfort.
