Water, Gatorade, Soda, Coffee, Beer, etc. are the beverages of choice while playing 18 holes. You might start your round off with a coffee to wake up, grab a water after few holes, follow it with a beer from the beverage cart and then chase it down with a birdie shot. Maybe at the turn you get food and a soda along with a another beer for the back nine. While that sounds like a fun Saturday round with the boys, consider the ups and downs your body experiences both physically and mentally with caffeine, sugar, and alcohol. If you don’t really care what you shoot that is fine, but what if you want to shoot your best round?

Fairway Fuel Golf Performance Drink claims to offer everything you need for the best 18 holes of golf in terms of hydration, focus and energy with their specially formulated lemonade. Does it really work and turn you into a better golfer? Let’s find out.

This is my definitive Fairway Fuel Golf Performance Drink Review.

What is Fairway Fuel?

Fairway Fuel Golf Performance Drink is special blend of slow release vitamins, minerals and supplements designed to keep you hydrated, focused and just the right amount of energy for all 18 holes. It is a lemonade flavored powder that you mix to a bottle of water. Each “bag” has 15 scoops of lemonade powder so you can enjoy this over the course of 15 rounds of golf. It is not a scoop every few holes, but one drink prior to your round will have you good to go for all 18 holes.

How Do You Drink It?

Fairway Fuel Golf Performance Drink is unique in that it really isn’t a golf course drink. It is meant to be consumed prior to your round as you are getting ready, checking in, maybe hitting some range balls, but they suggest 20 minutes before the 1st tee. You don’t actually need to carry the Fairway Fuel package in your bag, you can just leave it at home, make a bottle and drink it before you play, it might even be drinking it at home depending on your schedule. It isn’t suggested that you need to make another while playing. This is certainly unique to golf performance drinks I have tried before.

Does It Work?

How do you know if Fairway Fuel Golf Performance Drink works? Look at your score card is probably the first place to go, but then do a little mental check-in to see how you felt for 18 holes. I tried both the recommended way and an experimental way. So before my round I mixed up a 16 oz bottle of water and Fairway Fuel and drank it 20 minutes before tee-time. Everything went fine with no real “wow” events, but a solid round of golf. It tasted good with the light lemonade flavor. I did however need additional water hydration during the 4 hours in the AZ sun.

My experiment was trying it before I started the back 9 to see how it helped, plus I had a 22oz water bottle so I tried 2 scoops. It didn’t have any adverse effects on my game; I actually had a really good back 9. There are some legitimate claims to their product about focus and energy. I think there is a benefit to this supplement, but it has some short comings especially in hydration. It just simply isn’t enough hydration for 18 holes on hot days. I feel like what you drink with during your round will have an impact on how well it works.

Summary

I didn’t suddenly become a scratch golfer because I drank Fairway Fuel Golf Performance Drink, but at the same time there is some legitimacy to their claim of good focus and energy. I still needed to supplement some other beverages during the round for hydration; but the good feelings, focus and energy held strong for all 4.5 hours. The price point puts each round around $4 a scoop (or less if you buy bigger quantity). If you are serious about your round of golf and don’t want your mind going through jitters, ups and downs over the course of 18 holes, this is a really nice supplement.
