Travel Prepared for Unexpected Weather
Weather can ruin a good round of golf when the rain clouds roll in unexpectedly on the 3rd hole. Your vacation rounds can be ruined if all you packed were shorts and a polo if a thunderstorm pops up.of the US are just beginning their golf season. However the space in your golf bag is also a premium which mean we don’t want a whole rainsuit packed in our bag weighing it down or taking up space.
The Galway Bay Lightweight Rainwear is perfect for travel to save your vacation or keep a good round going. Cleggan Pullover and the Ayle Pants make a perfect combo to put in your bag and wear on the course. I was glad I packed them in my bag on a recent trip to MN. They kept me dry, warm and playing my best during unexpected rainstorms.

Lightweight Rainwear
Galway Bay makes some of the best rainwear in golf. I’ve trusted my game during inclement weather for numerous seasons now. They offer great rain protection along with comfort for swinging. Many of their pieces also offer warmth for a cold weather round. This new packable, lightweight rain gear is perfect for layering, even if it warmer out. The Cleggan Pull Over Jacket and Ayle Pull-Up Pants are lightweight and fold up really small so that you can keep them one of the smaller pockets in your golf bag.
Cleggan Pull Over
The Galway Bay Lightweight Rainwear Cleggan Pull Over is an ideal travel. I really liked the pull over style compared to a jacket for rain protection. I keeps the wind and rain off the body and creates a nice fit through the mid-section. This pull over runs a touch on the smaller side through the body so consider going up a size if you carry a few extra pounds or fall between size. I went M and it has a close fit, but plenty of flex for a comfortable swing.
It makes for a great outer layer with hoodie or sweater. It fit nicely in my bag when not in use and kept me completely dry the entire round. It is nicely vented too so that I never overheated either while playing. For an AZ golfer this is the perfect rainwear to have handy in case it rains or when traveling to more rainy parts of the country because it is lightweight and packable.
Ayle Pull-Up Pants
The Galway Bay Lightweight Rainwear Ayle Pull-Up Pants are the perfect compliment to the Cleggan Pull Over. They are the exact same lightweight packable waterproof material. They fit with the pull over in a small side pocket of my golf bag. They have a snap, elastic waistband. They have zipper access slots to your side pockets. They have a back zipper pocket. For easy on and off they have zippers up the side of the leg from ankle to knee which is brillant for easy on and off.
I was most impressed with how comfortable these were while also being very quiet. Sometime rain pants get to “swooshing” when you walk in them, but these were almost silent while walking or swinging. They kept my lower body perfectly dry. I liked the style too so that you don’t have to wear all black rainwear, but the white and grey combo looks awesome.
Dry, Light and Comfortable
I’ll be honest, I am a fair-weather golfer since moving to AZ. With roughly 350 days of sunshine, I don’t typically play golf in the rain. However when I travel for golf, all bets are off. My recent trip to MN had 3 days straight of rainy, cool and cloudy weather. The Galway Bay Lightweight Rainwear was perfect for my trip since it packed easily in my lightweight carry bag, but more importantly it kept me dry and comfortable while playing yucky weather.
It isn’t just lightweight in the bag, it also is lightweight on your body so that your swing never feels impeded by your rain gear. This is a huge factor for scoring when playing in apparel you rarely wear. It hit driver just as far, I swung freely with irons and was able to putt with confidence. The rainwear never got in my way and yet I was dry and warm all 18 holes. I think if you are going to play in the cold and wanted less layers, then you might want to wear something warmer from Galway Bay.
