How Much Are Golf Lessons?

On average, private hourly golf lessons cost about $50 per hour in the United States. However, prices can range dramatically depending on the golf instructor and the location of the lesson.

Most golf lessons are private, one-on-one lessons, where golf instructors can devote their entire focus to one student.

Most lessons are offered for either half an hour or a full hour and are given by a PGA-certified instructor.

If you’re interested in taking lessons, inquiring at your local course or driving range is a good place to start.

A less expensive option to private lessons is group lessons. While the size of the group will affect the price, the average cost for group golf lessons comes in around $30 per hour.

Whether conducting private or group lessons, many golf instructors will offer a discounted rate if multiple lessons are booked, lowering the overall cost.

Whichever option you choose, golf lessons should help you better understand the game’s fundamentals and could get you access to technologies like video analysis and ball flight measurement. Not only can these help you swing the club better, but you can also get equipment that best suits you. They are an excellent investment in your golf game.

Instruction Camps/Golf Schools

Courses and instructors around the country offer full-day and multiple-day golf camps, or golf school, to improve a player’s overall golf game or take a deeper dive into a specific aspect. Camps can range from agendas built for the beginner golfer that focus on the entire game and the fundamentals of golf to more skilled players looking to refine their skills and take their game to the next level.

Instruction camps are generally structured like a group lesson but still offer what a player would get in a private lesson, just more of it in a shorter period of time. Camps allow players to work on every aspect of the game – full swing, short game, putting, mental game – and get time on the actual golf course to use what they’ve learned.

Golf schools are often multiple days long and held in a warm climate travel destination. These prestigious camps often come with a higher price, but if you’re looking to roll a vacation and golf instruction into one, these might be worth the money. Some examples of the best camps in the United States include:
