“Quality, Performance, Aesthetics” – How JP Golf Prime Irons Became My Gamers.
JP Golf was founded on the principles of “Quality, Performance and Aesthetics.” From the days back in the Grind House to the newly released irons, JP Golf has always produced the best combination of feel, performance and art. Quite honestly there is nobody that makes clubs like JP Golf. While the founder of the company has moved on to bigger and better ventures, the principles of the brand live on.
The JP Golf Prime Irons earned the “gamer” spot in my bag because the combination of the principles which ultimately brought scoring to the table on the course. Not only do I have the best looking bag in golf, I also have the best performing clubs for me. The CG, the Camber Sole, the forgiveness, distance and accuracy made these gamers.
I tested these on the course for 7 rounds, hit them at the range, and worked indoors with them on the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 Launch Monitor in the iGR Office Simulator by Carl’s Place Golf.

Triple D18 Tungsten for CG
Since day 1, JP Golf has manipulated the CG with the Triple D17 Tungsten toe bullets to move the CG toward the exact center of the club. The JP Golf Prime Irons have that signature look and design which then offers one of the purest feels at impact. It is a combination of a signature look for a signature feel. It creates performance, feel and forgiveness. It is designed to balance all the weight of the hosel by pulling the weight toward the toe. All it does it work on every shot. The balance is perfect.

Camber Sole For Turf Interaction
The science behind the camber sole is all about the best turf interaction possible. The JP Golf Prime Irons borrowed this design from the wedges, but obviously it needed to be toned down for irons. It still has that camber from heel to toe and leading edge to trailing edge, but in irons it is much less pronounced than on wedges. The benefits become pretty obvious when you hit these off the ground. The turf interaction is perfect. Just enough dig to make a little divot, but enough bounce to exit cleanly and create crisp, clean shots every swing.
I think in general turf interaction isn’t talked about enough in iron design, but should be. I’ve found that every set I’ve had the most success with over the years, also has the best turf interaction because of some version of a “camber” sole. JP golf is very obvious with the cross hatch milling on the camber sole isn’t just for looks, but purpose of perfect turf interaction.
Forged With Arched Cavity
The JP Golf Prime Irons are a 1 piece forged head that look like a blade, but because of the arched cavity (and Triple Tungsten Bullets) have exceptional forgiveness. They are sneaky forgiving for such a compact head and solid one piece forged head. The mass is low and perfect CG with enough perimeter weighting to help off-center hits. I was actually pretty shocked how easy these are to hit and how well they perform. They look like the JP Premier Wedges which are multiple pieces, these are soft and solid S20C forged steel.
Uniquely Awesome Colors and Design
One feature that has always set JP Golf clubs apart from all other brands is the aesthetics. The JP Golf Prime Irons are the prettiest irons you can buy. They also offer multiple colors and design options to make them personal. I potentially have the most unique set of all with the Black polished finish for PW/9-Iron, the Platinum Satin for 8-iron/7-iron and the Blue polished for 6-iron/5-iron. (I can’t wait for the 4-iron in Purple polished to arrive) As you can see from the pictures above they pair perfectly with my JP Camber wedge as well as my JP Premier wedge.
Mine have the stock paint fills which look great but they offer any combo you want. I also have the JP ferrules which give them a nice touch too. I went with my favorite Nippon Pro Modus3 Tour 120 shafts for the perfect performance combo, topped with Golf Pride Velvet grips. But if you want to totally pimp these irons out, the builder app on JP golf allows you to customize them however you want for the best looks an performance.
On-Course Performance
The gamer spot in the iGR bag is not easy to win because we honestly test everything. The JP Golf Prime Irons won the spot by checking every box I need my irons to offer. These have “traditional” lofts so they hit what I consider standard distances. My stock 8-iron yardage is 150 and these are spot on. They have super consistent spin which also hits around that standard 8,000 rpms. The flight, the control, the forgiveness, the accuracy is all exactly what I want them to do.
You can shape a shot if needed, but they most often hit a straight ball. The turf interaction is perfect which mean I almost always have clean shots. Hitting greens, attacking pins, simply having every shot in the bag with these clubs is why they are staying. While currently they are only 5-iron through PW, the soon to be released 4-iron will complete the set from top to bottom. They also transition nicely into my JP Golf wedges.

Summary
The JP Golf Prime Irons are my favorite irons of 2026. They won the gamer spot in my bag by offering the core of JP Golf: Quality, Performance and Aesthetics. They are much more than just pretty clubs; they offer forgiveness, feel, performance, accuracy and style. I know the “complaint” will be the $2150 price tag for a 5-pw set, but honestly they are really good. If you are looking for the highest quality, highest performing clubs with the best looks, then these are an investment you might want to consider. While JP is no longer with the company, his principles live on in these irons.
