MGI is a leader in the golf “walking” business by producing electric caddies, so it only makes sense that they designed a small laser rangefinder specifically designed for walkers on the course.

I used the MGI Sureshot SlimPRO Laser Rangefinder for 5 rounds of golf to get accurate distances from this small laser on every shot.

This is my definitive MGI Sureshot SlimPRO Laser Rangefinder Review.

Size Matters

How small is too small?  When it comes to walking, the smaller and lighter the better yet it still must retain all the necessary features.

The MGI Sureshot SlimPRO Laser Rangefinder has 7x magnification, PinLoc technology, Slope, and Rechargeable Battery.

This small rangefinder also has a different shape with its square compact design.

While it fits in a pocket better than most, I’m probably still keeping it on my bag or in my cart.

Acquiring Distance

All lasers basically work with same: Press the button on the top and distances pop up on the screen.

I found the MGI Sureshot SlimPRO Laser Rangefinder to acquire distance with one push of the button by bringing it out of sleep mode it also shot the laser beam to the target and spit out distances.

It was fast and accurate.

I didn’t find any discrepencies between this rangefinder and other lasers nor did the distance change if I shot the same flag over and over.

It displays distance in black with or without slope.

It also lights up on the side blue or red to show if the golfer is using slope or not.

However turning the slope on and off is a multi-button task.

I like that they used 7x magnification too for bringing the target closer.

A Walker’s Laser

What makes the MGI Sureshot SlimPRO Laser Rangefinder a “walker’s laser”?

The size, shape and weight are the main design features that make this ideal for walkers on the golf course.

The lack of a magnet on the side is another.

While that might seem like a missing feature, for walkers it is annoying pulling your laser from the push cart and your ball marker, divot tool and keys come with it.

If you are used to a riding cart with you laser stuck to the arm, you’ll need a strap, but that just leads to more potential of leaving it behind.

The rechargeable battery appears to have a full season worth of battery life so it will be ready for all 6 miles of your round, week after week.

After 5 rounds the battery was still full.

Summary

The MGI Sureshot SlimPRO Laser Rangefinder stands out in a crowded market by being different.

It is aimed at walking golfers with its super small, compact, lightweight design.

It still has big features to accurate and fast distances.

It is missing a few standard features in lasers like multi-color display and magnet, but if you are looking for a laser designed for walkers, this one a perfect one to lighten the load and take up the least amount of space.
