Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons Review
You Can Game The “Legacy Reborn” Irons
“Nothing Feels Like a Mizuno” This tagline has been used now for numerous years to express how awesome Mizuno grain flow forging feels at impact.
There is nothing that feels better than a perfectly struck Mizuno blade iron.
Over the years Mizuno has created a variety of blades that both look and feel amazing.
However many golfer take one look at a blade and say, “I can’t hit that.” I agree most high handicaps shouldn’t play blades, but if you can strike the ball, this review is for you.
The Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons might be one of the easiest to hit blades, along with the best feeling and prettiest.
Their sole design, CG, and solid muscle make these gamers. While I only got a partial set for review, I serious looking to buy the rest of the irons needed to fill the set because these clubs are gamers.
I tested these irons over 5 rounds of golf as well as hitting them in the iGR Carls Place DIY Simulator with FlightScope Mevo+ Pro Launch Monitor.
This is my definitive Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons Review.

Nothing Feels Like A Mizuno Forged Iron
Why does “Nothing Feel Like A Mizuno”? The Grain Flow Forged HD process, is carefully executed in Hiroshima, Japan. Forged from a single billet of 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel, with the inclusion of a copper underlay further optimizes this experience.
That simply means they’ve created one of the softest feeling irons with the combination of metals, forgings and designs.
It wasn’t just the feel that sold me on these irons, but the performance of the Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons that won me over.

Sole Design For Turf Interaction
I think I’ve written this numerous times in reviews that in talking with most golfers that they still overlook: the sole grind.
What your iron does with the ground at impact has a significant correlation to how well you strike the ball.
We talk about it in wedges but not much in irons.
One of the reasons I hit the Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons so well is the reduced the camber height, the sharper leading edge, and the increased bounce angle.
Those 3 features mean turf interaction is perfect leading to solid shots in the center of the face.
It is crisp impact that picks the ball and takes a small divot.

Optimized CG For Controlled Shots
Mizuno cut a channel above the muscle to optimize CG so that shots launch nicely with control.
While sometimes the designs look much more subtle in blade irons, the smallest of changes impact the CG which has a direct impact on performance.
The Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons are easy to launch, but have a strong trajectory for good distance.
I easily hit these straight, but could control the flight and shape nicely.

On-Course Performance
If I had a full set of Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons I don’t think they’d be leaving my bag.
I tested a 4-iron, 6-iron and PW.
While I couldn’t hit every shot during a round with those 3 clubs, every chance I got to hit one of them I found them to be easy, straight and consistent.
I had mine built with Nippon ProModus3 Tour 120 Stiff shafts which offer a higher launch, but great feel and control.
Even with their more “traditional” lofts they still hit my ideal distances for each iron.
They are super compact “butter knife” behind the ball and can even cut through the rough easily.

Summary
The Mizuno Pro S-1 Irons are a Legacy Reborn.
These are blades that better ball strikers can game and will have great results.
I’ve been impressed by how easy these were to hit. They launch fairly high, go straight, but allow shot shaping and have perfect turf interaction.
Don’t overlook these irons just because they are blades, but give them a try to see if you don’t get the same results as I do: consistently good shots.
Not only do you get great shots, you get amazing Mizuno feel in one of the best looking irons you can buy.
Consider these for you new gamers.
