Ping G440 Hybrid Review

If I was going to summarize the Ping G440 Hybrid with one word it would be straight.

Ping has really mastered the art of straight in the entire G440 line, and especially in the hybrid.

They made some technical changes to this crisp hybrid to help it launch a little higher, pop a little more off the face and so it goes a little longer but always straight on the target line.

I’ve been impressed by this larger hybrid with the ability to rescue wayward drives with a straight approach shot that attack the green.

It offers confidence to hit any shot from any lie because it will just go straight on every swing.

This is my definitive Ping G440 Hybrid Review.

Ping G440 Hybrid

Big Size for Big Results.

The Ping G440 Hybrid is on the larger size of footprints for hybrids.

Which for Ping makes sense since they have the I-Crossover if you want something iron like.

The new design thinned out the face, lost some weight in the hosel and reshaped the sole so that more power could be transferred to the ball on every shot.

I found this club to easily hit that solid 220 yard shot.

What made it nice was that I could do this with the 3H which is 20* loft meaning shot flew high and stopped quickly for consistent distance control.

Flatter Sole For Turf Interaction

Hybrids tend to be asked to pull off shots that other clubs don’t have to.

The Ping G440 Hybrid has a flatter sole so that it sit on the ground a little closer and it also interacts with the turf a little cleaner.

I really liked how I could hit this club off the tee, fairway, out of the rough, or save a shot from any unexpected lie.

The larger flat sole keeps it from bouncing or digging, but simply gliding along the ground and into the ball for clean shots.

The Art of Straight Is Connected to Loft

I gamed the Ping G440 Hybrid for multiple rounds and it just goes straight.

What I learned is that this is no accident, but that Ping as specific flight patterns built into the various hybrid in the line-up based on their loft.

The 2H has a slight fade bias, the 3H and 4H are neutral and the 5H, 6H and 7H are all draw bias.

This is actually brilliant to help the various hybrid users to still get a straight shot, even with the bias.

If someone has a high lofted hybrid there is a chance they struggle with a slice and vice versa on the low lofted hybrid.

The art of straight applies to each loft.

The 3H goes very straight.

Performance From Details

The Ping G440 Hybrid hits that high straight shot that so many golfers crave.

The performance is driven by the new tweaks that Ping made to this hybrid.

The carbon crown, the shallower and thinner face along with a lighter hosel means this club is hot and straight.

Pair that with the 5 stock shaft options; I went with the Ping Tour 2.0 Black 90 gram hybrid shaft.

You can easily dial in the right fit for you so that the on-course performance is maximized.

Summary

The Ping G440 Hybrid has mastered the art of straight.

It has a solid click off the face that launches high, goes far, lands softly so that you can attack pins from any lie.

I’m impressed with the flight bias behind the lofts so that each club offers the best opportunity to go straight.

Ping is dialed in for 2025 on the art of straight, and the hybrid is a perfect example of a design for a wide range of golfers depending on their swing speeds and needs.

If you need more straight shots from your hybrid, then check out the Ping G440.
