There is kind of negative vibe in the golfing world about blades. I realize an 18 handicap golfer shouldn’t be playing blades, but mid and low handicap can certainly play blades and score well with them. I’ve shot some of my best scores with blades in the bag. I’ve also learned that not all blades are the same and there is still room for new designs and improvements.

Forged With Ceramic Irons
Ceramic is not the first material I think of when it comes to golf clubs and certainly not soft feel. So I was super interested when I first read about these irons and surprised when I hit them how soft they feel. The PROTOCONCEPT C01 TB ic Forged Irons are a forged blade iron with ceramic forged into the head creating one of the softest feeling irons you can hit. The combination of hard materials works to create something soft because of the CG manipulation it offers.
Blades For Gaming
Don’t sleep on blades because some internet article said that amateurs shouldn’t play blades. Play the irons that make you happy and give you performance. These PROTOCONCEPT irons offer both features of performance and feel. You can game these irons with success because they weren’t just built to look pretty, but each iron was design on CAD with tour player input for optimization of performance. They launch high, land soft and have a fairly large sweet spot. They have a beautiful sole grind which allows for excellent turf interaction. These club came to play and shoot low scores.
Optimized CG In Every Loft
So why the ceramic forged into each iron? While ceramic is a hard material it is also lightweight. It can withstand the temperature of the forging process and allows PROTOCONCEPT to manipulate and optimize the CG uniquely to each loft. This isn’t a design one head and copy it with different lofts, instead each iron has ceramic forged specifically for the loft so that the CG offers the best forgiveness, launch and feel. The PROTOCONCEPT C01 TB ic Forged Irons are uniquely designed blades that have more forgiveness than others because of the multi-material design and CG optimization.
On-Course Performance
The PROTOCONCEPT C01 TB ic Forged Irons were my “gamers” for over 10 rounds. They went into the bag right before I went on a golf trip. I found myself with a smile on my face after so many irons shots that launched on-target and landed close to the pin. These irons come in a 5-PW set. The long irons were easy to hit and launch high while the short irons were pin seekers. I did play them with Nippon Pro Modus3 Tour 120 shafts which also have a high launch, but even with the high launch these irons carry the distances. I hit them pretty much the same as most players distance irons.
Summary
The PROTOCONCEPT C01 TB ic Forged Irons have all the feels with a ton of performance. I’ve been blown away by the combination of 2 hard materials creating such a soft feeling, but yet blades that can easily be gamed. Yes, these blades are not like every other blades because of their CG manipulation; they have more forgiveness, great high launch and tons of feels. I know that PROTOCONCEPT isn’t a household name yet, but they designed and created a unique blade that looks amazing, feels like butter and performs on the golf course. Don’t sleep on these irons because they are blades, but consider them a legit option to play and play well.
