Launch Monitors used to be a tool only tour pros, golf courses, sim facilities or the wealthy owned.

The $20,000 price tag kept regular golfers from enjoying details of what their ball and club were doing and the results.

You could get a professional fitting to dial in details, but there was little you could do on your own time with your own products.

However, recent technological advances mean that many recreational golfers now own some version of a launch monitor.

With the price points ranging from $199 to $25,000 it seems like there is still a wide gap in quality, information and accuracy.

The Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor shrinks the gap with high quality and tons of information while also shrinking the price.

You can get tour like information at consumer friendly pricing. This is really an all-in-one unit that works at the range, at home or in a sim.

You can play, practice, train and learn with one convenient app and launch monitor. This is the BEST Launch Monitor under $1000.

This is my definitive Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor Review.

Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor

The Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor

The Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor is a compact, 2 piece system, that fits into a case that can be put in your golf bag for use at any time.

It has solid battery life with USB-C charging that allows you always have it ready for use.

It is a simple one button function on/off. It requires a smart device connection via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. I all functions very quickly and easily right out of the box.

It works both indoors and outdoors about 7.5′ behind the ball.

The dual camera and radar system allows you to record swing video and swing data at the same time.

I also like the tall stand so that even if you are hitting off mats, or a raised platform,it still picks up ball data without an additional lift.

It is stable and easy to balance and align to target.

Even on windy outdoor practice sessions it stood tall.

The light on the front of the unit also lets you know if you are connected and if the ball is in the hit zone.

The Rapsodo App

The Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor App is the tool that offers play, practice and training.

The seven options are all designed to help the golfer get better.

No matter which app function you use, the launch monitor collects every important data point you could want to information about the ball and club.

They continue to add new features, most recently club path and angle of attack on top of spin, smash, speed, direction, etc.

It pretty much gives you the same data you’d find in a $25,000 launch monitor.

The app does require a subscription for the premium services after 45 days.

The $199 annual fee still keeps this among the lowest priced full feature launch monitors in golf.

I really liked how they integrate 3rd party software too like The Stack System which is one of my favorite speed training tools as well as E6 Connect for one of the best simulator experiences.

Rapsodo Accuracy and Information

The real question is can the $699 Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor be as accurate as a $20,000 professional grade launch monitor.

I’ll admit my skepticism on this one because it seem unlikely that they can compete.

However, I was really happy with the very similar data between the two systems.

I found that if anything the Rapsodo underestimated the results so there aren’t any “puffed up” results with it.

I found that the tracking of range balls was tougher than the controlled indoor environment with RPT golf balls.

One feature that most packages come with are the RPT Titleist ProV1 golf balls which aid the launch monitor in tracking spin, speed, etc.

They work great indoors, but outdoor range balls don’t have all those dots for tracking.

When many other units struggle indoors, this one shines brightly for simulator play and practice.

Another real win for the Rapsodo was the fact that it almost never missed a shot.

I tracks every ball hit, good or bad, and records accurate data.

I’m hoping that they’ll be able to add putting tracking to this unit some day so that you can get the full simulator experience as well as training on the putting green.

Rapsodo for Training, Playing, and Practicing

Because the Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor offers so many options for simulator play, practice modes and speed training, you can literally use it every day. I think this is another win for the reasonably priced launch monitor. The all-in-one nature makes it good for training, learning, practicing and playing golf. I like how easily it worked for comparing club data. It is one of the best tools for improving.

The video capture is really big too for seeing the swing flaws that might need fixing. You can pound hundreds of golf balls and that will help, but understanding the data and swing can help make an even bigger jump in improvement. It can also lead to equipment changes that are data and evidence driven, not just perception.

Summary

I’m impressed and surprised with the quality, data, accuracy and ease of use that the Rapsodo MLM2PRO Launch Monitor offers at $699.

You won’t find a better deal in the personal launch monitor category that can do this much.

The included indoor golf balls are a great bonus which also help with accuracy.
