Scott Golf The Woody Putter Review

Wood is one of the most beautiful natural materials.

It is common and it is easily accessible, but the grain, the variety, the color, and all the ways that it can be used makes wood incredibly functional too.

The roots of golf were all wood: persimmon heads and hickory shafts dominated the game for years.

The metal takeover however makes sense from a durability, hardness and energy transfer.

While wood isn’t new to golf, the Scott Golf The Woody Putter is a unique way of combining a wood insert into a classic metal anser head.

This 1 of 1 putter line creates unique and beautiful putters that have a classic look, a soft feel and function on the greens.

Their patented wood inlay process creates both a piece of art and a tool for making putts.

I absolutely loved gaming this putter with the classic look, great feel and 1 of 1 uniqueness on the greens.

This is my official Scott Golf The Woody Putter Review.

Scott Golf The Woody Putter

1 of 1 Putter

Every Scott Golf The Woody Putter is unique, there are no 2 the same. Every wood insert is going to be different and Scott Golf uses different finishes on the metal too so you will never see another putter just like yours on the green.

I don’t know how much that matters to you, but it is pretty special to know that you are the only golfer rocking this piece of art.

They offer 8 different wood inserts so you can pick you favorite from dark to light, from grain to burl.

The wood insert is perfectly fit into the head for a clean look.

The Woody Insert

The Scott Golf The Woody Putter is more than just a piece of art.

Yes, the wood insert is unique and beautiful, but it also works really well on the green.

It isn’t some technological advancement, but going back in time to when wood dominated the golf club world.

The feel off this putter is one of the best I’ve hit with a soft muted feel, but yet solid and predictable. I’ve rolled hundreds of putts with The Woody and it is holding up just as well as metal does.

The Woody insert is legit for beauty, feel and function.

Beauty in The Details

The Scott Golf The Woody Putter would be a stunner, even without the wood insert.

The perfectly milled body is a classic anser head that is done in a mist chrome finish that has great shine without reflection.

The logo, the cherry dot, the shape, and they lines are all beautiful.

It is topped with a KBS black GPS 120 putter shaft.

The perforated black leather Best Grip is amazing and the headcover is a cool alligator leather with a tree on it.

You could happily hang this on the wall in your golf den as a piece of art. The Woody insert just makes it even more unique.

Performance Not Just Art

The Scott Golf The Woody Putter could easily be considered a piece of golf art and not to be used, but that would be a shame.

This putter rolls the ball incredibly well. It is perfectly balanced as a classic anser shape and wood insert puts a really nice roll on the ball.

I was impressed with how well I putted with The Woody. While I have raved about the Zero-Torque putters in reviews, these is something comfortable with a classic toe hang, plumbers neck, anser putter.

I made putts with this thing on the green.

The combination of great feel of the face for distance control and the comfort of the classic shape just worked.

Summary

If you are looking for a 1 of 1 putter that is both a piece of art and a tool for getting the ball in the hole, the Scott Golf The Woody Putter is just what you are looking for.

Pick you favorite wood, get it made in your length and enjoy rolling putts with this classic shaped putter.

Yes, it comes in at $850 but there won’t be another putter in the world the same as yours so that is the price you pay for exclusivity.

The unique wood insert is beautiful, but it also functions on the green with great feel and success.
