It needs to be easy to use, have vivid display, offer accurate distance, and track stats seamlessly.
The Smart Caddie App by Golfzon offers one of the best golf apps you can install on your Apple or Samsung watch to turn them into a GPS golf watch. The display has clear and vibrant maps, the slope adjusted distances are accurate and it is easy to use. It connects all your stats and scores to your phone for averages and insights. This is my definitive Smart Caddie App Review.

Apple Watch GPS
Apple Watches are the most popular watch in the world. They make up 48% of all watch sales meaning that almost 50% of golfers probably have an Apple Watch. If you are one of those golfers, finding a GPS app can be confusing and challenging. There are hundreds in the app store, so which one is going to do what you want? The Smart Caddie App by Golfzon offers every feature golfers are looking for at $50 a year. You can turn the watch you already wear into a Golf GPS Watch.
It also works great on android watches too so even those of you that don’t like or have an Apple Watch it works seamlessly on your Samsung watch or other android watch. The smart watch app is quick and easy to download, connects to your phone and watch and offers a free trial if you aren’t sure about the $50 subscription fee. I was also impressed by the minimal battery usage while playing golf using this app. This eliminates the need to spend hundreds more on another watch so you have GPS and tracking for golf.

Maps, Greens and Display
The Smart Caddie App uses the full display of the Apple Watch for bright, vibrant and clear maps, numbers, and green undulation. You have a full hole map on the tee box showing clearly every bunker, hazard and fairway shape of the hole. Once you approach the green (or you can swipe to show) they offer 7,000+ courses with green undulation. Unfortunately AZ is covered yet, but this allows you to move the pin and understand how you should hit approach shots into the green.
The display also has club suggestions, front, center and back yardages, time, score, hole, par, etc. Then with the swipe of the screen you can get even more information on every hole. It is bright and easy to read in any light. The colors are very vibrant so it looks beautiful looking down at the display. The numbers are all clear and easy to read, plus there isn’t any confusion information on the screen either.

“Auto” Features
The Smart Caddie App does the majority of the work for you in terms of finding the course, locking on to GPS, hole advance, distance adjustment. You do need to input your score at the end of each hole and if you want a track specific shots while playing there is a 2 second hold which then tracks yardage from where you hit to where it landed. It finds you on each hole and only advances once you arrive at the next tee box. If you go way sideways on a shot, it might ask which hole you are playing.
For the most part, everything is pretty automatic so that you can glance at your watch when you need to for information, but you don’t have to be so focused on your watch that you forget about your golf game. It also auto connects to your phone app so that you have tracking for each round when you aren’t playing to see stats and averages. It is really easy to use and navigate with little thought or effort.

On-Course Function
The Smart Caddie App can serve as your GPS rangefinder, shot tracker, and score keeper. The Apple Watch touchscreen is very easy to use and navigate. The only issue I had while using was the sensitivity of the Apple Watch dial button. Since it sits right up next to your golf glove, it sometimes reverts back to the watch face (home screen). That requires a quick button push again and back to the app, but sometimes it was annoying to look down and not have the hole map.
If you have an Apple Watch or Android Watch this app will seamlessly work and function for golf. The GPS accuracy made it easy for me to feel confident over shots, the full hole map allowed me to plan and execute shots and the tracking and scoring helped me understand my game during and after my round.

Summary
If you already have a smartwatch and aren’t looking to invest more for a specif golf device, the Smart Caddie App is an excellent choice. They continue to support it well with updates regularly. The menus are easy to navigate, the maps are clear and vibrant, the shot tracking is integrated, the green undulation is helpful (if your course is mapped) and the $50 annual fee is reasonable for all that it offers. If you are looking to turn your Apple or Samsung Watch into a Golf GPS Watch this Smart Caddie App is one of the best options.
