Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII Review
Pure Distance and Forgiveness-Refined
One of the great feelings in golf is telling your golfing buddies that you just hit an 8-iron further than they all hit their 7 or 6-irons.
Pride and ego are major factors in golf that everyone needs to wrestle with.
As much as we want to admit our contentment with our current clubs, the new ones that promise more distance and forgiveness are appealing, especially if we can brag about it to our buddies.
The 2026 Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII is the set that offers pure distance and forgiveness in a refined package.
This DTC golf brand has been offering a full line up of clubs for the last few years, with their 101 irons being aimed at higher handicap golfers who need launch, distance and forgiveness.
In 2026 they redesigned this model to make it even longer, more forgiving and better looking. Not only do they perform, but their price point is very wallet friendly.
If you are looking for more distance with forgiveness, these are irons you should check out.
This is my definitive Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII Review.

Refined Club Design
Takomo Golf has refined their 2026 club line with improvements to the materials and design of each model.
The Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII is proof that doing the little things right can make valuable changes to the finished product.
The 101 has always been a hollow distance iron, but improving the variable face thickness design for even better results is evident when you hit these clubs.
They also made some tweaks to the weighting and the overall aesthetics of these irons.
Now they look even better and feel purer on every shot.

Refined Forgiveness
Forgiveness can be kind of a vague word in golf trying to define clubs that will help you score better.
Plus something that might be forgiving for one golfer, isn’t always true for another.
The Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII is about straight shots and retained speed on off-center hits.
The higher the handicap, the higher percentage of these shots happen.
Golfers that use the entire face of an iron need something like this.
The offset is also aimed at golfers that don’t have the timing perfect leading to slicing the ball.
These offer a moderately compact look at address, but enough offset and just enough sole width for ample forgiveness.

Refined Distance
Let’s be honest, we all love hitting the ball further, even if we know that it isn’t the only thing that matter when it comes to iron play.
The Takomo Iron 101 MKII is a pure distance iron.
They hit the ball 10 yards further than my standard yardages for irons.
They do it with less jacked lofts and more pop off the face.
This is kind of nice for launch quality so that you don’t have every shot just wanting to go sky high, yet go far.
The set comes in a 5-GW which again for the higher handicap golfer is going to be perfect since they don’t need to be shanking 4-irons.
However the distance is comparable for me to a 4-PW set.

Pure Performance
With so much forgiveness and distance, shouldn’t everyone play these irons?
Remember as I stated above, these irons are aimed at higher handicap golfers because not everyone needs thick soles, ample offset and distance.
The Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII is going to really help a golfer that needs launch, distance, and forgiveness, but lower handicap golfers might not get the same benefits from offset and thick soles.
It really comes down to your iron swing.
If you need high and straight, these will help increase your distance and forgive those off-center strikes.
They offer this in a really nice looking, refined iron as well as being one of the most affordable new sets.
If you regularly shoot over 90, these will help bring that score down by hitting a few more greens in regulation.

Summary
The Takomo Golf Iron 101 MKII is their newest and most refined distance and forgiving iron set.
They look great in the bag, they perform well on the course and hit the target market perfectly for higher handicap golfers.
Their price point is unbeatable from the DTC brand that you can come to know as a real player in the golf world.
If you need more distance and more forgiveness in your irons, these should be the very 1st clubs you consider in 2026.
Takomo is coming in hot with their new irons.
The reviews of the new 201 MKII and 201T MKII will shed light on picking the right model for your needs as they offer other benefits to golfers of different skill levels.
If it is time to upgrade your irons and your iron play could use pure distance and forgiveness, then these should be your new gamers for 2026.
