Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons Review
Introducing Forged Blades With DTC Prices And Tour Level Performance
Tanso Golf might be a new golf company, but their founder is not new to golf. Eric Burch has been in the golf industry for decades and has built up numerous brands from scratch. His creative and entrepreneurial mind never stops. June 1, 2026 was the official launch of Tanso Golf by Eric Burch. Tanso is the word “Carbon” in Japanese. All of the Tanso Golf irons are triple forged 1020 carbon steel with his unique design. There are no other DTC brands that offer this kind of design, customization and access to the designer/owner/founder. If you have a question, Eric is the one responding.
The Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons are a forged blade at DTC prices with tour level performance. These are kind of a unicorn among DTC brands because very few make a blade, much less one this good. These are designed with the player in mind.
I tested a 5,7,9 set of these on the course for a few rounds, as well as on the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 Launch Monitor.
This is my definitive Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons Review.

Tanso Design
Tanso Golf’s founder, Eric Burch has been designing clubs for a few decades now. He knows what he is doing and has refined his craft over the years. The Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons are proof that there are still opportunities even in MB/blade irons to incorporated design features for feel, forgiveness and performance. These muscle back irons have a little extra muscle right behind the sweet spot which has been something he has incorporated in many of his designs. The thin top line makes it nice to look at behind the ball. The sole has an excellent grind even though thin for outstanding turf interaction.

MB Accuracy
The Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons by design are for low handicap golfers and good ball strikers. These reward well struck shots. I’m a huge fan of MB irons and often hit them better than game improvement irons. These were a real treat to hit shots with great accuracy. While limited to 5,7, or 9-iron shots, I did find them to be very accurate. I had numerous shots that I could shape the way I wanted to in order to attack a pin. What I really liked is that I felt like I was controlling the ball with these irons rather than the iron controlling what happened.
These irons are not for every golfer, but if you want blades without the high price of major golf brands, these are going to be a perfect choice. You can get custom specs for your swing like different lie and loft angles to make them even more accurate for better ball contact. You can even discuss exactly what you want with Eric so that you get the most out of these MB irons.

Tanso Forged Difference
There are 3 Tanso Golf irons: 249-MB, 349-CB and 449-CB. (RH models) They are all forged of 1020 Carbon Steel so that you can have exceptional feel with all of them. There is simply nothing better than well struck forged iron. If you want the purest feeling in golf, a Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Iron hit on the sweet spot simply melts the ball off the face with its soft feel. I’d put these irons up against any “big name” forged iron for feel. The real benefit is the DTC model which allows you to get custom irons are a great price point.

249-MB Performance
The Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons are a traditional blade iron which means they aren’t the longest or the most forgiving iron; they are for ball strikers and shot shapers. While I don’t necessarily like to “sling the ball” or shape the ball excessively; but I do like hitting blades. I’ve found just as much success on the golf course with MB irons as I have with distance game improvement irons. Since I was testing the 5,7,9 combo I paired them with a forgiving players irons and there was no drop off in performance when switching irons. My approaches were just as close.

Summary
The Tanso Golf 249-MB Forged Irons combine feel, performance, and looks at DTC pricing. Eric Burch is a hands-on owner/designer/founder who will answer any questions to get you into the best fitting set. The Tanso Golf Ai fitting program is spot on too so that you can let the computer do the heavy lifting when it comes to fitting. While these irons aren’t for every golfer, they are perfect for the good ball strikers wanting feel and performance. I was impressed by the accuracy and performance of these irons.
