TaylorMade Qi4D 5-Wood Review
The Perfect Blend of Distance, Forgiveness, Accuracy and Easy to Hit
TaylorMade has dominated the fairway wood market for a few years now, ever since the RBZ challenge of the additional 17 yards from a fairway wood was launched.
They remain the #1 fairway wood on tour. But in order to maintain that position it takes innovation year after year.
In 2026, TaylorMade stepped up their game again with the new Qi4D fairway woods by refining attributes that are already good and giving you just a touch more.
The TaylorMade Qi4D 5-Wood impressed me with the perfect blend of distance, forgiveness, accuracy, and is easy to hit.
While I’ve been a 3-wood to hybrid kind of golfer, this 5-wood might not be leaving my bag because it is so easy to hit and fills the yardage gap after my 3-wood.
I played it on the course for 5 rounds and tested it in the iGR Office by Carl’s Place Simulator.

Core Model Qi4D 5-Wood
Which TaylorMade Fairway Wood model is best for you?
There are 4 models of each Qi4D Fairway Wood: Tour, Core, Max and Max Lite.
While they are somewhat self-explanatory, they go from lower spin to higher spin, least forgiving to most forgiving, longest to easiest.
I think the largest segment of golfers are going to fit into the core model.
That was exactly what I needed in my 5-wood.
I wanted the perfect blend of distance, forgiveness, accuracy and still easy to hit.
Even on tour many of the pros are playing the core model. I think the TaylorMade Qi4D 5-Wood in the core model is the starting place for most golfers.
I think the most important factor of club selection isn’t just purely on the performance of a single club, but how does it fit with the rest of my bag.
I’m playing the TaylorMade Qi4D Tour 3-Wood which is really long paired with this 5-wood makes the gapping pretty good.
But the added length of this 5-wood has me considering a 7-wood too.
That way I can blend better into my iron distances.

Blend of Performance
The TaylorMade Qi4D 5-Wood blends all the performance aspects of a 5-wood I’m looking for.
The refined design allow me confidence behind the ball and success when I hit it.
This club just wants to hit the ball straight.
While the weight port is forward, it still controlled the spin and launch nicely so that there weren’t any moon balls, but yet there was still good high 5-wood launch.
I liked the compact and fairly “flat” shape of the head for hitting balls of the fairway as well as off the tee.
I think consistency was the biggest success of this club when hitting it: every shot was virtually the same.
It was long, high, straight and even had some stopping power into long par 3s.
This is simply an all-around performing 5-wood.
5-Wood Fit
I mentioned this early, but my typical bag set-up has been 3-wood to hybrid to 4 iron.
However the TaylorMade Qi4D 5-Wood has my rethinking that arrangement.
Like many amateur golfers, when we see tour pros putting in more fairway woods into their bags, I start to wonder if that is the best move for me too.
While I’ve always appreciated the versatility of a hybrid, this 5-wood might be more accurate and easier to hit.
It might not be as easy to hit out of the rough, but off the tee and fairway it is straighter, higher and longer.
TaylorMade included proven technologies like TwistFace and Speed Pocket to go with their new shaft line by Mitsubishi called REAX which is about club rotation.
Depending on your swing profile and how you attack the ball and when you release the club.
It isn’t about skill but swing. Both low and high handicap golfers can use the same shaft if their release point in the same.

Summary
The TaylorMade Qi4D 5-Wood is proof that you can have it all in one club: distance, forgiveness, accuracy and easy to hit.
It won the longest fairway wood in the iGR best 3-woods in 2026. It is really long, but the other features make this a gamer.
It appears likely that for 2026 my bag will have a 5-wood in it for the first time in years.
This club is so easy to hit, it goes far, launches high and stops on the greens.
The core model offers the best all-around performance for most golfers, but if you need specific lower spin, or more forgiveness or lighter weight, they offer that too.
TaylorMade may have just converted me to a 5-wood player because this Qi4D 5-Wood is a perfect blend of distance, forgiveness, accuracy and is easy to hit.
