The weather in the Pacific Northwest is known to provide multiple seasons in the span of a couple hours. It can go from sunny and warm, to windy, rainy and cold and then back to sunny are warm again in the matter a few holes. Golfers that travel to Washington, Oregon and British Columbia need to be prepared for any weather at any time. While here in AZ our weather report remains consistent and awesome, yet we still get multiple seasons in one winter round; cold and dewy in the morning, windy by mid-round, and then hot to finish.

The TRUE Ascent PNWProof Golf Shoes is the perfect shoe for changing environments that simply adapts to any setting with comfort and performance. These offer the extreme comfort that I’ve found in every TRUE shoe I’ve ever worn, with full waterproof uppers, spikeless traction and just the right touch of stability. I know I say this after almost every TRUE review, but these might be my favorite shoe they made yet.

This is my official TRUE Ascenet PNWProof Golf Shoes Review.

PNWProof

Finding a flexible, breathable, comfortable and waterproof shoe is no easy task. The TRUE Ascent PNWProof Golf Shoes are one of the best shoes I’ve ever worn that accomplishes all of those with ease. I’m impressed by these “knit” looking and feeling shoes that still offer superior waterproofing. They offer a complete seal about 3 inches off the ground to keeping mud, rain, snow or whatever dew you throw at these, but yet remain super flexible for walking comfort right out of the box.

TRUE Trail Inspired Traction

The soles on the TRUE Ascent PNWProof Golf Shoes are full of T’s and Dashes in a pattern to create traction inspired by hiking. I found these to work great on any surface for great traction, dry, wet, solid or soft. I didn’t have them clogging up with grass clippings, rocks or mud so they gripped no matter what the conditions were. They handle wet grass as easily as smooth cart paths. The “soft” rubber had good traction even on wet concrete which spiked shoes can’t offer. These soles can really handle it all; both on and off the course.

TRUE Comfort

I’ve been a huge fan of TRUE golf shoes for the past 15 years. They continue to make one of the most comfortable shoes you can wear. While zero-drop has been part of their line of shoes, the TRUE Ascent PNWProof Golf Shoes have a more “traditional” 6mm heel drop. I still found them super comfortable to walk in with the Wanderlux Supercritical Midsole Foam under foot. They flex in just the right spot too for easy walking 18 holes.

The only surprise was the size. I’ve been in the same TRUE size forever, but these run similar to other brands which is slightly small for TRUE. I’ve always been a size 9 in TRUE and a size 9.5 in every other brand. Now I’m a 9.5 in these TRUE shoes. I highly recommend going a 1/2 size bigger than normal.

TRUE Performance

Playing golf in the TRUE Ascent PNWProof Golf Shoes is comfortable, weatherproof, stable, and has great traction. I didn’t find anything missing or wanting while playing in these shoes. I walked miles right out of the box with these on. They are a perfect golf trip shoe since no matter what conditions you play in, even the changing weather of Bandon, these shoes will keep you playing at your best. I played my best round of golf in a long time while wearing these shoes for great swing balance, comfort and traction.

Summary

The TRUE Ascent PNWProof Golf Shoes adapt to any environment with comfort and performance. They have the look and style of TRUE Knit Shoes, while the performance and waterproof of the OG shoes. I think that TRUE hit the perfect sweet-spot with these shoes offering 3 colors, great looks, extreme comfort while still having that weatherproofing that can stand up to any course conditions, yet still look great off the course. Yes, these are my new favorite TRUE golf shoes.
