TRUE OG Crush Shoes

TRUE has been my favorite brand of shoes for the last decade.  Their original shoes were in zero drop with a wide toe box.  However the style was unique and didn’t offer much cushion.  More recently the Knit shoes became my favorite with comfort and style, except they weren’t zero drop.   The TRUE OG Crush Shoes are their newest and best model blending all their expertise into one shoe.  If you want a TRUE experience, these are their best shoe to date.

This is the definitive TRUE OG Crush Shoes Review for 2024.

TRUE OG Crush Shoes

What is Zero Drop?

99% of the shoes we wear have a heel.  Essentially all shoes, even if you can’t see it are taller in the heel than they are in the toe.  This creates an unnatural position when we stand and walk. Zero Drop means that the heel is the same distance from the ground as the toes are.  At first this might almost feel reverse the first time you wear a pair of TRUEs, but the more natural level fit is good for your ankles, and feet.  The TRUE OG Crush are their best zero drop shoes to date since they feel the most balanced and “normal” of any of their shoes.

Wanderlux Cushion

One of the complaints about the early versions of TRUE shoes that had zero drop was also that they had zero cushion.  A few years ago TRUE developed Wanderlux foam which is a thin but extremely cushiony foam that they use for a midsole.  The 6mm version of it in the OG Crush shoes is even from front to back so that you still get zero drop, but now you get incredible cushion so that you can comfortably wear these all day and your feet don’t get sore.

Improved Style

The very first TRUE shoes had a unique style.  They did some reverse saddle designs, some solid shoes, but at the end of the day, they had a slight “clown” shoe look that many golfers couldn’t get past.  Over the years they have created more “normal” looking shoes, but often at the expense of the zero drop.  The TRUE OG Crush Shoe looks as good as any shoe, yet retains zero drop.  They created a great looking shoe, that also functions according to their original design.   They offer 5 colors which are going to fit in an earth tone pallete. (They teased some future colors that don’t have a white sole which look outstanding.) The mixed matierials look really classy: mesh, leather, suede all are blending in a stylish and classy way.  You’ll only hear positive comments about these shoes.

Golfing, Walking, Working

The soles are all new too in the TRUE OG Crush Shoes.  Almost all of TRUE’s shoes over the years have been spikeless.  They’ve had numerous tread patterns and lug styles to keep your feet locked to the ground while swinging.  These have “T”s printed all over the sole in different directions.  They look really cool, but they also work.  They aren’t the most agressive spikeless sole, but they certainly hold up to the rigors of 18 holes.  The smooth design also serves these shoes well when walking off the course, or even in the office.  The natural movement breaks in the sole, keep it from cracking by flexing in just the right spot.  The unique look of the sole is about function, not just style.  If found them to transition from home, to car, to course, to work, to out on the town very smoothly and comfortably in every setting.

Summary

Zero Drop + Cushion + Style = TRUE’s Best Shoe to Date.  I’m impressed that TRUE keeps finding ways to innovate and create comfortable and functional shoes.  It has taken them years to build these shoes based on feedback and validation from tour pro and amateurs. The TRUE OG Crush takes them back to their roots, but does so in the most comfortable and stylish way.  If you’ve never worn a  TRUE shoe before, these are authentically TRUE and their best shoe to date.  You get Zero Drop, Extreme Comfort and Great Style.
