Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag

I dropped my clubs into the new Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag on the day it arrived and have been using it for the last 7 rounds of golf.  It is an outstanding upgrade to their Player IV Stand Bag which has been their best seller for a few years now.  It is like having a small staff bag for your carry bag.  It is the best crafted, functioning and stylish bag you can use for 18 holes of golf.

This is the definitive Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag Review for 2024.

Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag

Pro = Staff Bag

Vessel could label all their bags “pro” since they make the best bags in golf.  However when they add that title to something in their line, it has more to do with how the bag might be used, not the quality.  The Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag is amazing, but big.  If you are looking for the ultimate bag that you aren’t planning to sling over your shoulders for 36 holes a day, multiple days a week, then this bag will be awesome.  It rides great on the back for 18 holes, the straps are comfortable and the Vessel “balancing” system is excellent, but this bag is big.  It is the closest version to a staff bag they make with the large top and big pockets.  Vessel makes smaller, lighter bags if you are looking for a more “back friendly” carry bag.

New 14-Way or 7-Way Top

I believe 14-way tops on golf bags is the best way to organize and separate clubs.  I’ve read teh online debates between the 14-way top fans and  7-way top fans. So if you are on the other side of the debate, the Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag has you covered with either option.  I went 14-way top, and especially like the redesigned top with a wide putter slot at the top.  I like how the clubs all have their place and casacade nicely onto of each other without binding or getting mixed up.  I always know where my clubs are for a quick grab  when I’m ready to hit.

16 Pockets

The Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag has 10 pockets plus 6 interior hidden pockets.  I’ll say it right now, this is the best combo of pockets I’ve ever had in a bag.  The 3 magnetic pockets are the best and most used. (I’m starting to wonder if all pockets should be magnetic rather than zipper?)  The spine pocket gets the rangefinder and extra golf balls.  The backside pocket gets a cool beverage while the topside pocket gets wallet and cellphone.  From there the other 7 pockets get filled with gear, balls, accessories and additional cold beverages.  The internal pockets separate all the gear inside so that things aren’t just jumbled in a pile at the bottom of each pocket.  I caution you to be careful with how much you fill this bag up if you are carrying it on your back.  It could easily be filled with an additional 20lbs worth of gear.  I’d only load it up if I’m pushing or riding.  Which by the way it does both of those amazingly well.

Vessel Pro Materials

The Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag is crafted using the finest materials which give it a “pro” look.  The pebbled leather look is classy and clean.  I went with the grey model because it gets the oohs and aahs every time I’m playing golf from the cart guys to fellow golfers.  Everyone is blown away by how awesome this bag looks, feels and holds up, even after 7 rounds, it still looks like brand new.  We went with the subtle version of the IGR logo in black print on the ball pocket.  This bag just  oozes style and class.  There are also no shape points or metal rivets to catch or hook clubs or clothing. The flat bottom stand mechanism is great along with the carbon legs.  It also comes with the cart strap pass through and bag protector strap to help protect the material from rubbing and wear.  They offer this bag in 7 colors: white, black, navy, grey. iron brew, iridium and DXR black.

Walking, Pushing or Riding

The Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag is a stand bag that can be carried on your bag or rides perfectly well on a push cart or power cart.  I think the size and features are perfect for the golfer that golfs a variety of ways: walking, pushing or riding.  I find myself doing all 3 this time of year in AZ.  I think this will be part of the bag buying process.  You can easily carry this bag for 18 holes, but I think a 36 hole day might be kind of heavy on the shoulders.  It fits and rides perfectly on every push cart I tried.  The big balanced bag didn’t twist or move when strapped in.  The top also works well for that.  The cart strap slot and protecter meant that it also fits ina power cart perfectly.  I didn’t even bother to rearrange my clubs because the top is fairly flat and works well either direction.

The Brilliance is in the Details

I have and continue to be a big fan of Vessel bags because of the the details.  The Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag is crafted in the most meticulous way with the best zippers, the most magnetic pockets, the excellent stand mechanism, the balanced padded straps, the grab handles, the tops, the pockets and the clips and hooks.  There isn’t a detail overlooked in this bag.  It has staff bag like qualities in a stand bag. Coming soon is the club organizer that will clip onto the top rail of the bag.  I have this for the cart bag and it is amazing.  I can’t wait to get one for the Pro Stand Bag too.

Summary

Vessel continues to make the best golf bags.  I love that they upgrade and update their bag line regularly with new features and innovative designs.  Their sequels just keep getting better and better.  The Vessel Player V Pro Stand Bag is their best yet and takes stand bags to a new level, almost staff bag like. You can order it with a 14-way or 7-way top to match your preference.  If you want to add some embroidery or customization, they’ve got you covered there too.   If you rounds are balanced between walking, pushing and riding then this is the best looking, best functioning and best crafted bag you can get.
