Wilson Staff Model XB Irons Review

The golfers dream is to have clubs that look like blades, but play like game improvement irons.

It seems like you can only get one or the other: good looks or forgiveness.

The rise in players distance irons has started to bridge that gap to an extent, but still usually fall short in the looks and feel category.

Wilson may have just cracked the code with the Wilson Staff Model XB Irons.

At a glance I couldn’t tell them apart from the blades. They are the cleanest looking players distance/performance irons I’ve ever seen.

They hide their distance and forgiveness in a most compact and sleek looking iron.

But they offer tons of forgiveness, are super easy to hit, and launch the ball. These are the best overall irons for 2026 because they do everything the largest segment of golfers want and need: blade like looks but game improvement like performance.

I tested these on the course for 5 rounds, hit them at the range, and worked indoors with them on the launch monitor in the iGR Office Simulator by Carl’s Place Golf.

This is my definitive Wilson Staff Model XB Irons Review.

Wilson Staff Model XB Irons

2026 New Model

The 2026 Wilson iron line up is absolutely killer.

We’ve already reviewed the Blades (review here) which are a shot makers dream with some improved distance and looks.

The CBs (review here)are the Goldilocks of the group for good ball strikers.

The DYNAPWR Forgved update keeps them at the top of the distance category.

The Wilson Staff Model XB Irons are the best irons for the widest range of golfers combining blade like looks, distance and forgiveness.

This is a completely new model to Wilson’s irons.

It is the perfect compliment to the line up for golfers that maybe don’t quite have the skills to play blades or CBs, but want the look. Wilson knocked it out of the park with this set.

Comparison of Blade, CB, and DYNAPWR Forged

Blade Like Design With Game Improvement Like Forgiveness

The key to the Wilson Staff Model XB Irons is their hollow body design but yet kept compact.

The tendency in this category is to create a clean looking iron, but one that still tends to get bigger and bulkier.

The XBs kept it tight with a compact look at address and a thin top line.

If I glanced at my bag, I couldn’t tell if I had the Blades or the XBs to play because Wilson didn’t put any markings or didn’t make it obvious the difference between the two irons.

It is a bold move and one that certainly pays off so that golfer get the looks they dream of, but the forgiveness they need.

These are also one of the easiest to hit irons with forgiveness everywhere on the face, tons of launch and extra distance.

I hope golfers don’t overlook them as blades, but give them a chance to watch them perform like game improvement irons.

The combination of forgiveness and distance make them great for golfers that come up short on approach shots and miss side to side.

Best Overall Irons for 2026?

The Best Overall Irons for 2026 had some stiff competition.

There were a number of really good releases out there from other brands, but Wilson introduced a new model and it knocked it out of the park.

The Wilson Staff Model XB Irons are one of the easiest to hit, best looking, super forgiving and distance irons you can find.

The combination of all of those features is why they won our award.

I think a low handicap to high handicap golfer can play these irons with joy and success.

They are a full club longer than the Blades and CB irons but look very similar.

They just want to hit straight shot after shot so not much ball movement with these.

On-Course Performance

The Wilson Staff Model XB Irons are scoring machines on the course.

Their aim and hit performance meant that the majority of shots with decent swings ended up near the target.

They have distance, launch and forgiveness making them super easy for most golfers to hit.

The nice camber on the sole offers super forgiving turf interaction.

The long ions were so straight which really helps golfers scoring as these are often the 50-50 clubs in terms of performance.

The short irons launch it high and land it soft next to the pin.

If you already have your distances dialed in, these will be 1 club longer so be prepared to brag.
