Zero-Torque is the hottest buzz word in golf right now. Every putter company is making some version of a low or no-torque putter. However not all zero-torque putters are the same. There is a wide variety of designs, weights, feels and styles that make each zero-torque putter different. Finding the right putter for you can be a very personal experience. The technology helps golfer make more putts by reducing twisting during the putting stroke.

The Z-Stroke Renegade Putter is from a new brand out of Wichita, Kansas. This little putter company is making a name for themselves as they have 2 putter models, (soon 3) that simply make putts. The zero-torque technology is paired with copper or brass inserts for weight and style. Instead of hiding it all on the bottom, they show it off on the top and use it as a face insert. I rolled the Renegade putter for 5 rounds this winter in AZ and had outstanding success on the greens with this little putter that could. (make putts)

This is my official Z-Stroke Renegade Putter Review.

Z-Stroke Renegade Putter

What is Zero-Torque?

It was the buzz word in putting for 2025 continues into 2026. It is most often show in a free spinning “revealer” attached to a putter that when a normal putting stroke is made, the putter resists twisting, staying in the address position which means when you putt, you aren’t fighting the putter’s momentum to twist which could cause a putt to go offline. While our hands still control the putter face and steady hands can keep any putter face square at impact; for many golfers they lack that steadiness is exaggerated by the torque of a putter.

The Z-Stroke Renegade Putter is a center shafted, heavy weighted mid-mallet putter. The zero-torque design does not use any forward press or offset grips, but is simply a straight shaft set just behind the thick face. It is easy to align and sets up very easily behind the ball at address.

Copper/Brass Inserts

The Z-Stroke Renegade Putter can been made with brass or copper inserts depending on your preference on a black, red or blue aluminum body. One of the unique design features is that the weighting is shown on the top rather than the bottom. So not only are the inserts functional, they are also part of the aesthetics of this putter. The same brass or copper that is used for weighting is also used for the face insert. The face is milled nicely for good feel. The copper inserts are just slightly heavier than the brass ones, but both are going to offer a really solid “metal” feel off the face.

I went with copper for the slightly softer feel and heavier weight, but it is probably minimal. It really is about choice of feel, weight and the look which is just slightly different between the two. At first I was worried about the top of the putter looking busy, but as I putted with it, the inserts just kind of added to the alignment by keeping the ball between the copper inserts for center putter strikes.

Easy Alignment + Gimme Grabber

The Z-Stroke Renegade Putter is easy to align on putts and can be ordered with 6 alignment styles; blank, T, 1 line, 3 lines, 1 dot or 3 dots. I’ve grown fond of the T-line which worked really well for me on the greens. This zero-torque putter very quickly and easily sits behind the ball square and takes almost no thought to line up. The straight shaft and oversized grip required no adjustment so from day 1 it was great rolling.

Another cool feature of this putter is the Gimme Grabber for those “almost made” putts that require only a tap-in that any golfer is going to give you. You simply slide the putter under the ball and it scoops it up easily in the half-circle cut out. It also looks nice at address as an additional alignment tool. I also like the little copper insert around this gimme grabber.

Surprisingly Great Performance

I’ve been putting well this winter so I wasn’t sure a putter change was going to be good for my scores, but the Z-Stroke Renegade Putter surprised me with continuing my hot streak on the greens, even improving my 10-foot putting consistency. I was impressed by how many 7′-14′ putts I made with this putter. I kind of expect 6 footers and less to drop and generally anything over 15 feet I assume is a 2 putt. It is that 7-14 foot range that can really make a difference. I rolled numerous birdie putts in from 10 feet which surprised me in a good way. Easily alignment and consistent distance control + zero-torque all leads to made putts.

Summary

Z-Stroke Putters might not be a brand you’ve ever heard of, but let me tell you, this little zero-torque putter company that could make putts is worthy of your consideration for your 2026 bag. I’ve been impressed by the success I’ve had on the greens with this putter. It looks cool, functions well, offers zero-torque, technology, has a soft metal feel with copper inserts, and the additional gimme grabber makes for one functional putter. They offer numerous options off their website to get the putter that fits you eye.
