I stuck the ZERO BREEZE Mark 2 Portable AC in the basket of the riding cart and it blew cold air on the back of my neck during  a hot round of golf.  It is the best way to cool down during the summer heat.

I couldn’t believe how good the cold air felt every time I sat down.  If you need to beat the heat this summer, check out this portable AC.

This is my definitive review of the ZERO BREEZE Mark 2 Portable AC.

ZERO BREEZE Mark 2 AC

30* Cooler??

I tested it a couple times in the AZ summer heat.  It was 107* on the course one day, and in the shade it was 98* another.  That is hot, even though it is a dry heat.  Drinking lots of water and finding every bit of shade you can certainly helps, but the heat is still very real.  I used a thermagun to test the claims from ZERO BREEZE and the cooling power of the Mark 2 is legit 30* cooler. (see below)  The cold air was noticeable and wonderful between shots.  It was refreshing on the back of my neck.  While the “bubble” of cool air isn’t very big in a golf cart as it mixes quickly with the hot air, I was able to safely play golf even under a heat advisory.  The cool air is distributed via a vent on the machine which also has an “air duct” that can be attached and aimed.  It is a really slick screw in connection for the tubing and it can stretch and be bent to funnel the air exactly where you want it, even if the unit is pointed the opposite direction.

Battery Power

The ZERO BREEZE Mark 2 Portable AC has large battery unit that clicks onto the bottom of the unit.  There is a short power cord to connect the two.  I would have much rather seen a connection point built into the clips.  However the battery holds plenty of power for your other devices with multiple plug-in options.  The battery has good life, but might not make all 18 holes if you run it on the highest setting.  If you run the fan a little lower it will probably survive.  It charges relatively quick and will get you back to full strength quickly.  If you have an outlet, you could just plug the Mark 2 for cooling instead of the battery.

Golf Usage

As I mentioned above, I put this in the riding cart basket which sits right behind the bench seat.  All carts have them, however they are all slight different shapes and materials.  I just kind of wedged it in on my initial test runs, but in the future I’ll be bringing along some sort of stand or box to mostly fill the basket so the Mark 2 sits higher.  This will help the exhaust airflow get away from the AC unit.  I also plan on putting a Y splitter on the end of the cold air tube so that both the driver and the passenger enjoy the cold air. I saw a picture of someone using a riding cart solo and they put the Mark 2 on the floor and had it pointing at their face.  If you own your own cart I could see getting one of those complete enclosures, usually used in cold weather, but you could keep the inside of your cart 30* colder with this pumping in cold air.

Other Uses

This seems like a perfect camping accessory.  If you tent or have a camper that doesn’t have an AC unit, this thing works like a dream.  It will cool down the space of a tent in a relatively short amount of time.  The dual exhaust will quickly and efficiently get the hot air away.  The tube stretch out pretty far and you can even use the packing foam to fill a window in a camper.  There is drain hose to deal with the condensation in humid weather.  I ran the unit in AZ for 3.5 hours and since it is so dry it didn’t really make much liquid.  The fan is so quiet you could easily sleep with this running on the highest speed.  It also has a light for at night in your tent or camper.  The remote will also help you control the settings even if you aren’t right next to the unit.  Just be careful since there is nowhere to store the remote, it can easily be lost.

Summary

Every year there are “golf” products that surprise me.  This year the ZERO BREEZE Mark 2 Portable AC is something I never knew I wanted, but have been so impressed by what it offers.  I understand the price point might seem high (currently around $1300), but 30* cooler is no joke.  With a little bit of creativity and ingenuity you can create a cool and comfortable ride for 18 holes for both you and your riding partner.  If you enjoy other outdoor activities that could benefit from AC, this battery powered Air Conditioner will make it more comfortable and cool for hours.  You camper, tent, boat or whatever you can imagine will be cooler if you use the ZERO BREEZE Mark 2 Portable AC.
