Quiet Please!
You’ve seen the signs or heard the tournament workers call for a hush to come over the crowd as professional golfers are hitting their shots. While we don’t have signs or volunteers keeping people quiet while we play, we know that etiquette calls for silence while golfers are hitting shots. While not the loudest thing on a golf course, one of the annoying sounds is the clanging of clubs. It means they are just banging against each other in the bag and getting chatter marks all over them. No body wants to be the “iron cover” guy so your brand new irons end up looking well used after just one round. The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag has a uniquely molded top that keeps the clubs from banging and clanging against each other for the sweet sound of nothing while you drive down the path or push the clubs down the fairway, no matter how bumpy it is.
14-Way Silencio Top
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag’s top is really the center of attention. It is a molded slot system that holds 9 irons in a fan pattern around the top of the bag while holding 4 woods down the center of the fan. There is one large putter well at the end of the fan for all 14 clubs to be carried safely securely and quietly. I would have liked to have seen it be a 10 iron slot fan since I play 4-iron–pw with 3 wedges which makes 10 total iron like clubs. I made it work and since there aren’t clubs moving around, the non molded slot worked well for my 58* wedge too without making noise. The slots down the center worked great for my woods and putter then. There was even room for my alignment sticks in a couple different slots which meant everything had its place and quietly over all the terrain. The top’s design also allows for clubs to go in and out very easily with the grip hole paired with the iron slot.
So Many Pockets
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag has more pockets than anyone should fill for a round of golf. There are 12 pockets ranging in size and function, but they all are pretty big and can hold a lot of stuff. There are 3 large pockets on the spine for golf balls, tees, rangefinder, etc. There are 4 on each side which holds your valuables in a lined pocket, a cooler pocket for your cold beverages, which holds about 3 cans comfortably, there are upper slot pockets which can hold some extra accessory type stuff and then a very large pocket on each side to hold extra shoes, rain gear, etc. There is one “secret” pocket that says rain hood on it which works well or can hold a a spare battery for your eletric push are just in case. The zippers all have large loop toggles on them making them very easy to pull and open/close.
Dri Lite Bag
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag is made with Dri Lite material which means it is water resistant. While not 100% waterproof which is near impossible anyway with a golf bag, this is the most water repellent of any bag I’ve tested. There are 3 color options; black, charcoal and grey. They all have a nice logoing and accent colors on the bag. This is a really nice feature if you play golf in damp conditions. My rounds in AZ are generally pretty dry, but a pop-up monsoon still can get bags and clubs really wet. The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag repels almost all the water keeping clubs and gear dry.
Molded Bottom
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag has a bottom that is molded to ride on either a power cart or a push cart. The “slot” on the bottom will “lock” into most push carts holder for the bottom of the bag to keep it from moving and rotating while golfing. The bottom also rides like any normal cart bag on the back of a power cart. I also like how the bag will stand nicely when off the cart too in the parking lot or in the office waiting for the next round.
One Tall Bag
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag is the tallest bag I’ve ever used for golf. It has to do with the molded top which needs to be higher so that it can hold the club head. While the height of the bag doesn’t really matter one way or the other, the strap slots are just a touch high for US carts. I found the standard height of straps sit just below the BIG MAX strap slots on this bag. Nothing way off, just like an inch low. On a push cart it rides taller too, but that really didn’t impact how it rode on the cart or how it functioned on the course. I drive a MINI Cooper and I already have to take out the driver and 3-wood to get my clubs in the boot, and this bag was no different. It still fit in the trunk just fine. Even though it is tall, the handles and carry straps still balance nicely for transporting the bag.
Summary
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 2 Cart Bag impressed me by keeping my clubs in place and quiet while I played 18 holes. It also reduced “bag chatter” to a zero on my brand new irons which is also a nice feature. The water resistant material is legit for keeping everything dry and the 12 pockets allows you to carry everything you need and then some for 18 holes. If you want to protect your clubs, play quietly and carry a lot of gear, this unique bag is one of the best we tested.
