I enjoyed walking behind my Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy while golfing. This electric remote cart offers the best remote operation of any electric cart out there.  While it doesn’t have the follow features, Motocaddy nailed the remote function making it easy to steer and manuver on the golf course while adding GPS so that everything you need is at hand.

This is the definitive Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy Review for 2023.

Electric Caddys??

Walking has made a resurgence in golf here in the US.  It has always been the preferred method for golfing since the game was invented in Scotland.  However as the golfing population has aged, course layout became more spread out and riding carts became the norm at golf courses, walking had become less popular.  COVID-19 changed the way we golf, by encouraging social distancing; walking came back in style.  While I have always preferred to walk, AZ golf, especially in the summer, almost requires golfers to take power carts.  However there are still numerous courses in the desert that are designed to allow walkers.  Fall and winter are a perfect time to enjoy walking behind the Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy.  It reduces fatigue and makes walking the 5 miles of an 18 hole course relatively easy and very enjoyable.  Walking also improves my scores because I get into a good rhythm and pace that isn’t rushed or slow, just steady from shot to shot with time to think about the next shot. Throw in the GPS and now you have everything you need right on the cart.

Battery Life

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy is the newest Motocaddy version which now included a 3.5″ GPS screen on their award winning M7 cart.  The M7 has one of the best batteries on the market.  I’m impressed how well it holds a charge and how powerful it is.  Not only does it power the cart easily for 36 holes, but it runs the GPS touchscreen as well as having juice left to charge your cell-phone.  The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy has a 28v battery that goes for more than 36 holes with ease.  I charged it day one, and have only charged it once since then just to be on the safe side.  The battery drops into the cart’s frame and has a plug that comes out of the battery to plug into the cart motors.  You can charge the battery right in the cart or you can remove the battery and charge it somewhere else.

On-Course Function

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy is well designed top to bottom.  The biggest improvement they made from the regular My is now the front wheels have tension which keeps them mostly pointing straight until you engage the steering.  This makes the function much better and steering more precise.  It wanted to turn too quick with the previous front wheels.  The two large rear wheels have the motors connected to them which also serve as the steering wheels.  They work off the principle if you spin one wheel a little faster in a direction the cart turns.  It is “skid” steering.  There is a small 4th wheel that sticks out the back to prevent wheelies on hills and quick starts.  This cart is incredibly stable.  You have to go out of your way to tip it over.  It will most likely happen on a side hill when you hit a bump or something to cause it to become unbalanced.  If you watch where you drive and go up and down hills rather than across them, you shouldn’t ever have to worry about tipping the cart over.  You can always grab the handle too just in case it starts to tip.

Driving via Remote

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy is all about the remote function.  There is a speed control dial and button on the handlebar to move the cart, but I rarely use that since the remote is so much easier and better for driving.  The remote has basic joystick buttons to move the cart forward, backward, left, right and stop.  The buttons are intuitive and straightforward, the only thing to remember is the forward button is not an accelerator, but an on button.  However the backward button is.  Meaning you don’t need to hold the forward button for the cart to move, but you do need to hold the reverse button for it to go in that direction.  The right and left buttons can be used in motion or when the cart is still.  They work like any “skid” steer does.  Small increments are possible, but doing a quick 360 is also easy if you hold the turn buttons down.  You can adjust the speed by tapping the forward button and it increases the speed 1 level.  The cart has speeds 1-9; 1 is barely moving, and 9 is a jog.  I usually have the cart at 4 to 5 speed for a nice brisk walking pace.

The Addition of GPS

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy raised the bar with adding a touchscreen GPS to the handle.  IT is a large screen, very bright and easy to use.  I am impressed by how well it works on the course.  The yardages update as the cart moves.  It auto advances to the next hole, it keeps score and its best feature is the ability to move the flag on the green.  The screen displays the green with the flag in the middle, but you can look at the flag color or visualize the location to move it on the screen to get a more accurate distance.  It is impressive.  My only wish is that on the tee box it showed the hole shape.  You can get hazard locations, but no complete visual of the hole. It also has a USB port below it for charging your phone and you can connect it via bluetooth for updates.

 Size and Weight

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy folds up compactly enough to fit in the back of almost any car.  I drive a MINI Countryman and it fits ideal with a seat down in the back.  This allows for space for my bag too.  The cart weighs around 25lbs.  It isn’t light nor super easy to lift, but most golfers can accomplish this motion before and after their rounds.  It unfolds and folds with 2 levers; one on the lower section and one on the upper.

Accessories

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy now comes with 4 free accessories: cup holder, scorecard holder, umbrella holder, and cell-phone holder. They make it a really useful and functional cart on the course. They all screw on or clip on to the cart off the main frame arm.

Summary

The Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy is one of my favorite products of 2023.  While I don’t get to use it much in the AZ summer heat, the fall and winter are perfect. I find myself wanting to walk so I can use this cart.  It makes an enjoyable walk even better.  The addition of GPS gives it everything I need for 18 holes. I realize that the cost of this cart might deter some, but if you consider what the add-on cost of a riding cart and a GPS unit, that all adds up in 1 year, you could save those funds and buy a Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy.  Walking while playing golf is enjoyable, using the Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy is even more enjoyable.
