I played 8 rounds of golf with the Cobra LTDx LS 3-Wood in my bag.  This club is staying there because it hits all the shots I want with a 3-wood: driver like shots off the tee, bombs off the fairway, and controlled/precise shots when needed.  It does it while keeping spin under control for every shot.  I also able to hit it on my FlightScope Xi Tour Launch Monitor to collect shot data. I have over 11 years of experience testing and reviewing golf clubs.

Here is my overall experience and thoughts on this 3-wood.

Winning the “gamer” spot in the IGR bag is no easy task.  Each club is tested and compared against the best of the best year in and year out.  It needs to perform on the launch monitor, but more importantly, it needs to prove itself on the course.  The Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood has won the fairway wood slot in my bag.  I have found amazing success with this 3-wood as my “go-to” club.  It is really long so I can hit it in place of my driver and it is really straight so I use it when things get narrow.  It is low spin so it keeps the ball from curving off course.  It does everything I need and want in a 3-wood.

The Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood has one noticeable omission from the last few 3-wood by Cobra: No Rails.  While I am a huge fan of the rails and believe in that technology based on experience; I haven’t missed them in this club either. The sole of the LTDx LS 3-wood almost looks like it has rails, but instead of placing the weight low and the length of the sole, Cobra added PWR-COR Technology which is a heavy weight right behind the face and 2  interchangeable weights right behind the PWR-COR to alter the flight slightly based on needs.  This club will not correct a slice, but can help to avoid the draw.

The Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood is certainly aimed at the better golfer.  The low spin, low launch is not for everyone.  I see many golfers that can’t get a 3-wood off the ground.  The other LTDx models will be a better fit.  However if you have no problem with launch and could really benefit from some spin kill; this is the best club out there.  It is fairly compact at address and has a low profile that sits very square.  It comes in 2 color options: black/orange or navy/red.  I went with the glossy navy with red and white accents.  It is a beautiful club.  It has an adjustable hosel that comes stock at 14.5*.

The Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood has H.O.T Face.  This is a speed tuned variable thickness face.  While virtually every OEM uses some version of this, Cobra seems to have really dialed it in.  I found this face to be H.O.T. just like they claim.  I found myself out-driving many of my playing partners with a 3-wood while they were hitting drivers.  The ball just explodes off the face.  The lower launching head with low spin means it is long.  I don’t have issues getting the ball in the air, usually it is the other problem of too much launch, so this club controls that nicely.  I’ve had some driver “yips” lately so this 3-wood has saved the day by hitting the ball really long and straight.  I didn’t miss a beat, nor did I even notice much loss of distance, especially since I was in the middle of the fairway most of the time.

Many golfers seem to have a love/hate relationship with their 3-wood.  I remember the days when I hated a 3-wood of any type.  However I’ve come to love my 3-wood, especially this Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood. It has become one of my most trusted clubs.  I use it off the tee on a regular basis because it is long, straight and launched nicely.  I’ve even played a couple rounds without hitting driver because of the aforementioned “yips” and my score was just as low.  It certainly isn’t a 3-wood for everyone, but the better, stronger golfer is going to find the greatest benefits of this fairway wood because of the low spin and launch.

The Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood comes stock with the Mitsubishi Tensei Raw AV White Graphite 75g stiff shaft.  It is a low launch, low spin shaft that compliments this head perfectly since everything is designed about keeping launch and spin down.  This is the lowest of the combos I have played.  It has a tight feel and is best suited for strong swingers.

Summary

The Cobra LTDx LS 3-wood has a strong hold on the fairway wood slot  in my bag.  While I know not everyone has the benefits of reviewing all the new clubs on course; this is a club you should definitely demo and consider for 2022.  It is a low/low combo which will benefit the stronger/better golfer.  If you fight launch and spin, this club is the best on the market to bring it down for even longer distances and greater accuracy.
