I played the TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood during my last few rounds this spring.  It is one of the most adjustable 3-woods you can buy.  It is like having 3 fairways woods in one.  The 50g sliding weight, adjustable hosel, and titanium face make this the most impressive 3-wood for 2024.  Read how it became my “gamer.”

This is the definitive TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood Review for 2024.

50g Sliding Weight

TaylorMade has always been at the cutting edge of adjustable clubs.  They were some of the first to introduce us to changeable weights, adjustable hosels and sliders.  Last year they introduced one of the most significant weight adjustments yet: 50g sliding weight.  It isn’t changed much for 2024 in the TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood, but this huge sliding mass actually makes a very noticeable difference in flight, feel, sound and performance.  It allows this “tour” club to be perfectly fit for your needs.

Titanium Twist Face

The TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood has a titanium twist face which we usually associate with drivers.  TaylorMade explains really nicely on their website the difference between steel and titanium faces in fairway woods. Steel offers more MOI while titanium offers lower spin.  I feel like I’m always trying to lower spin on my shots so this titanium Twist Face is perfect for my needs.  Even though this has the “tour” label, don’t label it unforgiving.  I actually found it really easy to hit, adjustable to my needs and the twist face means a pretty large sweet spot for this compact 3-wood.

Adjustable Launch

The TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood is described as a 3-in-1 fairway wood.  The launch can be adjusted more than any other fairway wood by the 50g sliding weight.  If it is all the way forward you get penetrating, low spin shots.  If you slide it all the way back you get higher launching shots that just go straight.  If you slide it to the middle, you get something in between with decent height, lowish spin and pretty good forgiveness.  I ended up settling on all the way back since it was the most forgiving and still low spinning enough for ideal fairway finders and green seekers. I left the hosel at neutral since the head sits perfectly square at address.

Low Spin

The TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood is one of the lowest spinning 3-woods in 2024.  This is what I’m looking for to maximize my distance.  I find it keeps my ball on line better than higher spin which tends to see more side to side movement.  While that might lead to the conclusion to slide the weight all the way forward.  That did lower the spin, but the flight became too penetrating for control.  Some shots would hit the ground running so hard that I’d hit 270 yards with a 3-wood.  Other shots would hit the ground “short” and stop only about 210.  I want the ball to fly and roll out some.  With the weight back I could increase the launch height without adding too much spin.  So now I’m hitting it high and 240 with a little roll out.  This offered more consistency and predictability of each shot.  If I hit the ball even higher “naturally” I’d go all the way forward.  This is the beauty of the fitting possibilities with this club.

Performance

I didn’t think my 2023 gamer 3-wood could be bested.  It was so consistent off the tee and from the fairway for the entire season.  The numbers were excellent too.  The TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood came in and won the “gamer” slot with even better performance.  The combination of launch, spin, forgiveness, and distance made this 3-wood the clear winner.  It is no easy feat to win a spot in the gamer bag, but once I got it dialed in for my needs, it became my favorite club in the bag.  Off the tee this club is a beast, I almost drove some short par 4s with it.  It can get pushed to be almost as long as my driver.  From the fairway, it launch lasers toward the pin with incredibly straight shots that were high launching and had ideal roll out. A little longer, a little lower spin, a little higher launch, and straighter makes this club a winner.

Summary

TaylorMade didn’t make huge changes to their “tour” model 3-wood for 2024.  However the new TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 3-Wood is one of the best on the market with adjustable tour like features.  The subtle changes to the shape, crown and face mean it is a little bit better than previous models.  The improvements also means it made my “gamer” slot making my bag better for 2024.  If you need to find the perfect fit for your 3-wood, don’t shy away from the “tour” name because this club can be adjusted to fit your needs while offering low spin, adjustable launch and incredible performance.
