I had a Bushell Pro X3 Laser Rangefinder on my bag for 6 rounds of golf giving me quick and accurate distances. Bushnell continues to dominate the laser rangefinder market at every level from pro to amatuer.  In order to retain that status, they make improvements every season.  The Bushnell Pro X3 is the top dog and has some excellent improvements that will keep it on top.

This is the definitive Bushnell Pro X3 Laser Rangefinder Review for 2023.

When you are the best, how do you keep the top spot?  You keep improving and innovating.  That is what Bushnell did with the new Pro X3 Laser.  The Pro XE was already the best laser on the market “hands-down.”  Bushnell went back to the drawing board and did some work on their calculations and their ability to include “nature/location”.  The Pro X3 does even more than ever to account for “true” distance based on every factor possible: elevation, slope, temperature, and distance.

The Bushnell Pro X3 laser is one of the bigger and heavier units on the market.  While there has been a push for smaller and lighter; I actually prefer the larger size of the Pro X3.  It fits in my hand better and the weight reduces shake.  It has the strong/sturdy feel in your hands while using it on the course.  The case is combination of rubber, metal and plastic which also has a very durable feel to it.  You can’t help but feel the quality of this laser when you use it.

The Bushnell Pro X3 laser rangefinder has a 7x magnification which is 1 power more than most. While too much zoom and it gets hard to see things, I like the 7x so that you can clearly and largely see the flag.  This has been a constant feature of the top Bushnell laser which I’m glad they don’t change.  There is a bigger is better reality in this rangefinder, especially the optics.  The lens is crystal clear and bright.  You can spot anything and everything in the bright AZ noon sun or the dark overcast twilight round equally well.  The LCD display inside also allows for black or red options depending on your preference.  It too is crystal clear and very easy to read.  You have the option to get adjusted measurements or simple line-of-sight distances.  The new slope switch on the top front locks down one way or the other making sure there is no accidental slope on during tournament play.

The Bushnell Pro X3 Laser comes with Bushnell’s grey  “hard” case which has both a zipper and a bungee strap to keep it secured when not in use.  The BITE magnet is wonderful for use while in a riding cart.  It “locks” to the roof arm with zero fear of it falling off.  The only reminder is to make sure you take it off the cart at the end of your round.  It might not be there when you return asking if they found a laser on a cart.

The big question is are all the new Bushnell calculations for distance, slope, elevation and temperature accurate?  My first few rounds I had it set to my standard specs through the Bushnell app for golf in Tucson, AZ 85* weather and 2500 ft elevation.  However the temps were far from normal; instead off 85*+ we are playing golf in 40* and wind.  It was really hard to gauge anything.  But once I actually played in the 85* heat, the numbers appeared spot on.  So even if a hole was a little uphill, the mountain elevation and temperature meant that it equated to a virtually flat shot.   It takes away the guessing game of adjustments based on the many factors that impact distance.  Not only are the calculations excellent, hitting intended targets are better than most with PinSeeker.  This JOLT lets you know you hit the intended target with the laser rather than something behind your target.  I never felt the need nor did I need to double check my distances with the Bushnell Pro X3.

Summary

The Bushnell Pro X3 Rangefinder isn’t going anywhere; it is the king of lasers.  The new calculations, the new slope switch, the app connectivity, the strong BITE magnet, the fast and accurate Pinseeker means this is the best laser you can buy.  I appreciate that Bushnell keeps pushing themselves to improve their laser technology.  There is a reason that 99% of tour pros use Bushnell.  They remain the king of the hill of laser rangefinders. It is the biggest and best laser you can use for golf.
