I collected data with the FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor for multiple range sessions, in the Office by Carl’s Place DIY Golf Simulator and compared it to my  FlightScope Xi Tour Launch Monitor for simulator play, product testing, and dialing in club distances.

This is the definitive review of the FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor for 2023.

Launch monitors range in price from $250-$25,000.  That is a very large gap in price, which also means a very large gap in performance.  If all you need is a guess at the distance your ball went, the $250-$500 ones do an OK job of getting data right on some very basic parameters.  The $25,000 model will give you every data point with extreme accuracy.  So what about the launch monitors in the middle.  I think there are varying degrees of accuracy and value.  The FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor offers the best accuracy at the best price combination on the market in 2023.  FlightScope loaded this little launch monitor with technology found in much bigger and more expensive units so that you can get everything you want/need at a reasonable price.

Size

The FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor is just a little bit bigger than an Iphone Max and smaller than most tablets.  The launch monitor and case should fit in almost any golf bag(maybe not a small Sunday bag).  It only has 1 moving part; the large kickstand. The single button on the top means there isn’t too much to worry about in the unit itself.  There is a charging port.  It sets up quickly and easily at the range or in a simulator.  The compact package makes it much easier to use for a quick range session before a round or, in my situation, moving from simulator to range and back again.

Accuracy

The FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor offers the same accuracy you’d get from the top launch monitors.  I tested it against a FlightScope iX Tour model, other lower end models and even compared it to my laser rangefinder distance  where the ball landed on the range.  While some of the smash factor, angle of attack, etc were hard to prove since I don’t have a $25,000 launch monitor to compare it to, the consistent results and visual accuracy was impressive.  It almost never missed a shot and there were no discrepancies between what the launch monitor said and what my eyes saw.  I have great confidence that the Mevo+ 2023 Pro gives you accurate data; if you use the silver dot or a Titleist RCT golf ball.  Outdoors it does full ball tracking while indoors it guesstimates off the first 8′ of flight.  I found indoors it is maybe a bit conservative with my numbers, but consistent.

Software

The FlightScope Mevo+ Pro Launch Monitor offers a really great software suite.  There is an app, PC and simulator software all included.  The 3 different ways of making use of the data collected by the software which makes for an excellent experience and knowledge packed session no matter how you choose to use the Mevo+.  The basic package can get upgraded with numerous data points and collection features.  The Mevo+ can be upgraded to the Pro package which offers more club data, and it can upgraded again with face impact location for the highest level of data.  The inclusion of TRU golf E6 simulator software means you can play 10 courses without any upgrades.  The software takes a little time to set up and arrange, but once you get the hang of it, you can understand what the ball is doing on every shot.  It really is the most complete software suite right out of the box for an affordable launch monitor.

Features

The FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor has features found often on the most expensive launch monitors, now available to regular consumers.  They packaged the features in kind of an al carte menu.  If you want the basic package it is $1900, if you want Pro it is $2800 and if you face impact, it is $3200.  (FlightScope regularly runs specials so be on the look out for coupons and codes)  I’ve been impressed by the Pro features which show club data that was previously only available on high end launch monitors.  The Mevo+ 2023 Pro can really be a learning/educational tool as the features work hand in hand to understand your data.  Video can be synced to the data too for golf instructors to talk both about data and visually what is happening during the swing.

Chipping & Putting

The FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor can be used to practice your short game; chipping and putting.  This to me is one of the best upgrades from an older launch monitor or a lower end launch monitor.  Since so much scoring happens around the green, it is really beneficial to have information on chips and putts.  I found this vital to enjoying the full simulator experience.  While putting is still touchy and it misses a few putts here and there, it still shows what I’m doing with the club through the impact zone; open/closed, lofted, etc.  This is one of the features that raises the bar and puts the Mevo+ 2023 ahead of the competition.

Benefits

Do you need a FlightScope Mevo+2023 Pro Launch Monitor? The better question is:  How much data do you know about your clubs and swing and how much do you want to get better? You can go to the range, bang balls, play multiple rounds a week, but without a launch monitor are you maximizing your skills?  Maybe you wonder why everyone else in your 4-some is out driving you or why you can seem to hold the green with wedge shots.  Data can teach you about the fit of your clubs, the details of your swing and the information about what is happening on each shot.  You may have the wrong clubs, the wrong ball, or a technique that is holding you back.  Data can teach you why and even show what needs to be fixed.  Knowledge is the first step to improving.  Along with range data, I’ve found that playing in a simulator also helps my game since it makes practice fun.  Enjoyable practice leads to success too.

Summary

We don’t tell you how to spend your money, but we are confident that buying a FlightScope Mevo+ 2023 Pro Launch Monitor is the best launch monitor purchase you can make in 2023.  If you want to improve your game, have fun, and learn about the data of your clubs; this is as good as it gets at a realistic price point for consumers.  While still the cost of 3 or 4 drivers, it might just show you that you don’t need a new driver.  Consider this one of the best investments in your game.
