L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter Review
Think Less and Make More Putts

I rolled putts for 5 rounds and multiple practice sessions with the L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter. It is the easiest putter to hit consistently on-line, on-speed, and in the hole. The putter brand once known as the “ugly duckling” is now a popular “swan” for good reason in both tour pros and amateurs bags because it simply makes putts.
This is my official L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter Review for 2024.
Think Less?
Have you ever noticed how many one handed, no look, spin around, slap at the ball putts go in? It seems like you can’t miss those “no thought” putts. When you line it up, look at every angle, go through the routine, your brain gets in the way of making putts. The L.A.B. Golf Df3 Putter allows you to think less about putting and just roll the ball in the hole. The design, weights, grooves, alignment, all of it combined takes a number of factors out of the equation so you can think less about the putter and just putt it in the hole.

Instant Success?
There seems to be a honeymoon phase with lots of new clubs that offer success on the first round, but fade quickly. The L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter was the opposite. My first round with it was one of my worst putting rounds because I needed to adjust my mind and my body to this putter. I’ve never been a center shaft putter guy so that was an adjustment. Then adjusting to letting the putter putt instead of trying to manipulate the head was a shift and finally learning the touch and feel of this putter took me 2 rounds. On rounds 3, 4, and 5 I rolled more birdie putts and had less putts than I’ve had all season. There is a learning curve with this putter because it is different, but different here is a really good thing.
#UnTorqueYourself
L.A.B. stands for Lie Angle Balance. It means the putter wants to hit straight into the ball without turning or rotating. It is a challenge to accomplish this and still make a putter that looks appealing to the eye. While the L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter is not the most beautiful putter made, the redesign from DF2.1 to DF3 is actually a work of art. I’m impressed with how “normal” this putter looks along with how perfectly balanced it is. The L.A.B. Golf hashtag #untorqueyourself really is on point when you roll this putter.
Directed Force
The DF line is all about forgiveness. How can L.A.B. Golf create as much forgiveness as possible in a putter, was to get as much of the “force” of the putter “directed” into the ball at impact. While the DF2.1 putter is the most forgiving the DF3 is really close and much easier on the eyes in my opinion. The L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter offers the perfect balance of forgiveness with good looks. The bottoms are full of weights to create both a perfect lie angle balance as well as tons of forgiveness. While I like the all black look of the one I’m playing, the options to go with 7 other colors mean you can get is custom to your preferences.
Press Pistol 2* Grip
There has been a rise in different putter grips over the last decade in terms of size, shape, color, material and feel. However the Press Pistol 2* Grip on the L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter is the first of its kind I’ve ever used. At quick glance it looks like any other oversized putter grip, but then you notice the offset where it meets the shaft. It automatically sets you up with forward press. I think we’ve heard about the benefits of forward press for years, but sometimes forget its benefits at set up. The L.A.B. Golf Press Pistol 2* Grip automatically sets your hands into a 2* forward press. This is just another thoughtless benefit of this putter.
Gimmie Getter
The L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter has what they call the “Gimmie Getter” It is the hole in the back of the putter that can press on the ball and pick it up without bending over. They aren’t the first company to add this to their putter, but it is a cool feature. I’d love to make every long putt, but sometimes those 40 footers just stop a revolution of 2 short. No one is going to doubt I’m making that putt, so instead of tapping it in, bending over and wedging my hand into the cup to retrieve it, I just tap the ball with my putter and pick up my ball. It is a function, weight and style design that works very well during a round of golf.
Performance
The L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter earned the gamer slot in my bag by making birdie putts. I felt like I was putting decent before the DF3 putter, but seeing more birdie putts drop has really lowered my scores. It doesn’t take much to see success: a couple birdies and less 3 putts suddenly changes a score in the 80s to one in the 70s. The reason that tour pros like Phil Mickelson are putting this putter in the bag is because a 70 compared to a 72 can mean $100,000’s difference at the end of tournaments. I’ve been a blade lover for much of my golfing career, but the L.A.B. Golf DF3 putter is winning me over with success on the greens.
Summary
Do yourself a favor and roll some putts with a L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter. They can been found at numerous Big Box Golf stores for demo, or you can use their online fitting tool which does a perfect job of fitting a putter to your specs. The buzz around this putter is legit. There is a reason you’ve seen it winning on tour and finding its way into pro bags. It is the real deal with technology and results. I love seeing more circles on my score card and so will you. Think less and make more putts with a L.A.B Golf DF3 Putter.
