I had the Callaway Jaws Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedges in the bag for 8 rounds.  They have a different look which allows for maximum creativity while instilling confidence in each shot.  The raw face paired with the chrome body offers the best of both worlds for many golfers.

This is the definitive Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome Wedge Review for 2022.

Remember the first time you saw the PM grind wedge.  It had full face grooves with a funky shape that Phil Mickelson loved.  It had some design homage to an old Ping wedge.  While it was a magic wand out sand, I never found enough consistency on full shots and certainly didn’t like looking down at the wedge.  The Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedge offers some of the design features of the original PM grind wedge in a traditional shape.  These wedges look normal and work for every shot, not just sand shots.

Wedges require many different features compared to irons.  You need to hit so many different shots with wedges that versatility is one of the most important design elements of a wedge.  The Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedge is one of the most versatile designs I’ve played.  The C-Grind allows you to hit just about every shot you can imagine.   The sole has lots of relief in every direction so you can manipulate the sole to do different things for maximum creativity.  I like that you can make all these shots while still looking down at a traditional shape.  Sure it still has a little bit of a higher toe, it is so a little different, it is hidden/blended in so well, you don’t even notice, unless you really compare head to head.

The Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedges have the entire face filled with grooves.  They also added offset groove in groove technology which looks like a diagonal pinstriping on the face. The full face grooves are a different look compared to most wedges which only have them in the center of the face.  This however didn’t bother me after a few swings.  While you can’t “frame” the ball with the grooves, you also don’t have to worry about missing the grooves; it is impossible if you hit any part of the face.  The JAWS grooves are still the most aggressive in the game.  They spin the ball like a top.  We are so many years now removed  from the “groove rules” that most don’t even remember the crazy spin prior to the change.  These grooves really grip the cover of the ball and impart maximum spin allowed.  I am impressed by the check and even spin-back you can get with these wedges.

The Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedges have a unique weighting system.  The ported muscle has been a staple now for a few versions of Callaway wedges, these 4 ports are uniquely weighted/drilled out at different depths to transition the weight from the heel to the toe.  The mass high on the toe also helps keep the CG away from the hosel.  This makes for the most solid strikes no matter what kind of creative shot you want to hit; there is appropriate mass behind the ball.
I went 54/58 in the Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedges to fill the bottom end of my bag.  I was really happy that I could hit full shots with both of these wedges with ease.  The 54* is that 100 yard club that I could hit and stick.  Because of the grind, I could also hit a little low launching creative shot like I would normally hit with a 58* wedge.  The 58* wedge worked well from every lie from 85 yards and in.  If you can imagine a shot, you can hit it with this wedge.

As a club reviewer I am constantly playing different clubs in my bag.  I am used to hitting something different for every round of golf I play.  While that means I might not be as grooved in with specific clubs, I can tell quickly how confident I am with new clubs.  Wedge are often the hardest club to find confidence with.  However, the Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedge quickly earned my trust.  It only took a few swings to feel the grind and get used to the look.  I was impressed with the confidence in my wedge game these clubs offered.

Summary

The Callaway JAWS Full Toe Raw Face Chrome wedges are different, but in a good way.  Their shape inspires creativity and confidence.  The grooves spin the ball for maximum control, while the full face of grooves allows for anywhere on the face contact.  The raw face can be rusted quickly or will stay like original with minimal TLC.  The Chrome body is going to look good for a long time.  The tiered weighting makes sure you have the mass where you need it.  I like the move by Callaway to a more traditional look from the PM grin with the same unique shot making abilities.
