I played the new Titleist 2024 AVX Golf Ball over the course of 5 rounds. Mine however only had the “Test” markings on them, but confirmed that they were indeed the new 2024 AVX ball. I knew right away that these golf balls fit my game with their low flight, long distance and incredible feel. They do everything I want in a golf ball with increased greenside spin for 2024. Don’t overlook the AVX in 2024.

NEW AVX
The Titleist 2024 AVX Golf Ball has a new formula, a new cover, and new dimples. That kind of sounds like a whole new ball, yet still offers the benefits of AVX. (Alternative to ProV1 and ProV1X) Titleist describes those new features this way:
- New high-gradient, high speed core delivers incredible soft feel and longer distance tee-to-green
- New thin, high-flex casing layer provides lower spin on long game shots
- New 346 quadrilateral dipyramid catenary dimple design for a more piercing ball flight
- New softer urethane cover delivers softer feel and more greenside spin for excellent short game control
Basically the ball is all new inside out. Each layer is improved to be longer off the tee, straighter, lower flight, softer feel and more greenside spin. Titleist is speaking my language with this ball addressing everything I want and need in a golf ball.
Still an AVX
Titleist is telling us that the 2024 AVX is all new, and yet it is still an AVX. If you loved previous versions of this ball, you are still going to love the new 2024 AVX. It retains everything that makes this ball special, just does it a little bit better. I’ve never had a problem with lift on my golf ball, instead trying to keep the flight down has been important to my game. AVX is still one of the lower flying premium golf balls. This means piercing through the wind better, holding a straighter line and ultimately being a longer golf ball. Green side spin has been a complaint I’ve heard from others, but I like the control I have. The 2024 AVX increases greenside spin, not drastically, but incrementally. There is still nice roll out, but a little more check is good. The soft feel is still high on the list of reasons to love this ball. I find the feel most beneficial on the green. The putting distance control is directly related to feel and the soft feel of the AVX offers the best speed control on the green.
$5 Less Than PROV1
MSRP on the Titleist 2024 AVX Golf Ball is $50 while ProV1 and ProV1x are $55. That would lead golfers to believe the AVX is less of a ball. I’m here to reminded you that cost shouldn’t determine the best ball for you, performance should. This ball is made in a different plant and uses a different method which allows Titleist to sell it $5 less a dozen. The performance is actually a better fit for me from tee to green. Before you write off the AVX as a lesser ball, consider it more a niche ball that maybe fits a smaller segment of the golfing population, who like me, it fits perfectly. I score really well every time I play a Titleist AVX. Yes, I recommend sticking with one ball and playing that model all the time, but as a product reviewer, I’m often playing/testing something new. My results say I should always tee up and AVX and the new Titleist 2024 AVX is their best version yet.
Summary
Don’t overlook the Titleist 2024 AVX golf ball because it isn’t a ProV1/ProV1x or because it is $5 less. It is my favorite performing golf ball. Just because it is softer, doesn’t mean it isn’t longer. For me, it is the longest ball I hit off the tee and from the fairway. It is the best ball off the putter too. The improved wedge spin makes it even better around the greens. The new and improved Titleist 2024 AVX Golf Ball might just be the best fit for your game like it is mine.
