Ping i240 Irons Review
The Most Forgiving Players Irons You’ll Ever hit
What if you could take the massive amount of forgiveness built into many of Ping’s irons and pair it with a players iron that looks good, feels good and offers workability with distance? That is what Ping somehow mastered in the new i240 irons. These might be the most impressive irons for an all-around balance of forgiveness and performance. This set probably fits one of the widest range of golfers from low handicap golfers who like the compact look, have the skill to really use these irons, and yet the mid handicap golfer can simply set-up and swing.
I love where Ping is going in 2025. These clubs are easier to hit straight, yet provide skilled golfer the opportunity to hit even better and more controlled shots. I tested these on-course for 4 rounds and ran them through launch monitor testing in the iGR Office by Carl’s Place DIY Simulators. These are the most forgiving players irons you will ever hit.
This is my definitive Ping i240 Irons Review.

Players Forgiveness
Player’s Irons and Forgiveness typically don’t go hand in hand, but Ping created a players irons with the most forgiveness of any I’ve ever played without sacrificing the “players” part. The Ping i240 irons have a thin sole and thin top line while still increased forgiveness. These have a big cavity back with the weight low. They are so easy to hit. I could still put some shape on the ball if necessary, but I found myself wondering why would I do that when I can just hit the ball straight at the pin. I think these are club that you can either really enjoy if you are “good” golfer or grow into as you get better.

Players Feel
Ping has not been a top brand that comes to most golfers minds when it comes to feel. I know feel isn’t truly a performance factor, it still tends to be a factor of what golfers are going to game. The Ping i240 Irons solved the feel issue with new and improved sound tuning bar in the cavity making these one of the softest feeling Ping clubs I’ve ever hit. I was super impressed with how solid and soft they feel at impact. They may still have a touch firmer feel than a forged blade, but the vibration dampening they’ve created paired with the look and forgiveness of these irons negates that issue.

Players Launch and Distance
This new category of irons Players Distance irons keeps expanding in a good way. I sometimes wonder how long do I need my 7-iron to be and at what point is it no longer a players iron? The Ping i240 irons offer a beautiful high launch that carries just a touch longer than I typically expect. I wasn’t bombing it over the green, but often hitting just past the pin and stopping. Based on the statistics that most golfers come up shot on approach shots mean that now you won’t. The high launch nicely added to the stopping power too. This combination means power, forgiveness, feel and closer approach shots.

Players Performance
What does it all mean on the course? The Ping i240 Irons have helped me hit some of my best scores of 2025. I was impressed with the approach shot results that offered my shortest total distance putting. They have a touch of offset and maybe a touch thicker sole than some players irons, but after 18 holes, I really settled into the performance benefits of these irons. The ball launched high, went straight and stopped. It was attack the pin mode all round long. I was able to majestically launch a 4-iron up into the air and watch it fly almost 200 yards and similarly hit a high PW that got tight at 120.
