The Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges were my shot game tools for 5 rounds this spring.  I’ve been impressed by the precision with which they attach flags and the spin control they offer on every shot.  I also tested them on the range and in the Office by Carl’s Place DIY Simulators.  The combination of on-course testing and FlightScope numbers proved the new Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges for 2024 are way underrated and deserve a shot at the short game tools for your bag.

This is the definitive Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges Review for 2024.

ZM Grooves

The Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges are all about the new ZM grooves.  They are said to be deeper and sharper  through Garnet Face Blasting process thus creating more spin.  While I don’t have a microscope to detail and measure these claims, the on-course eye test says they are true.  I had exceptional spin shot after shot from any lie.  The Flightscope testing also said that these have really high spin, often going well over 10K.  The ZM grooves are legit, while still keeping everything under control.

Forged

The Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges are a forged wedge which means you get that nice soft feeling paired with the ZM grooves.  Solid feeling shots inspire confidence.  While it doesn’t necessarily dictate what the ball does, it translates into our hands and minds about how a shot felt and how we might manipulate the results.  That solid consistent forged wedge feel really is what better golfers want to feel in their wedges.

Options

The Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges can be configured many different ways.  While there isn’t a low bounce, mid bounce, and high bounce options for every loft, there are the best options to choose from for each loft.  I found that the combos offered fit the majority of golfers needs.  I have a 50*, 56* and 58* combo.  While the lofting seems a little disproportionate with gapping, the 56* actually fit the space well from a distance and usage perspective.  It actually hit the number I wanted between the 50* and 58* pretty well.  I found them consistent on full shots and all three could be used for touch shots around the green depending on the desired result.  I was really happy wit the options and results of this 3 wedge combo.

HT Wedge

The Wilson Staff Model ZM Wedges have a HT (High Toe) model in 3 loft options, 56*, 60* and 64*.  While I know T_Fity aka “The Wedge Magician” will probably go 64*, I tested the 60*HT model.  It has become really popular on tour and in amateurs bags with the success shown by Phil Mickelson.  I find it to be kind of a finicky club for me.  I either hit the most amazing wedges shots you’ve ever seen with a wedge or one of the worst skulls.  I can’t seem to look down and feel confident with the shape. All the grooves and that high toe just doesn’t fit my eye.  I know many golfer that love it so it is a great option for Wilson to offer.
